LEBANON - This Saturday night, the Lebanon I-44 Speedway will see a new class of cars race on the high banks.

The winged 305 Sprint cars will make their first 2006 season appearance this season and were not previously on the season's schedule.

"We saw how popular the winged 360 Sprint cars were with the fans," track promoter Randy Mooneyham said, "so we thought the fans might like something similar back at the track."

In addition to the 305 Sprint cars, Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Factory Stocks, Bombers and Rookies will all be racing.

The USRA also released their current national points standings. The top 10 for the Modified sanctioning body has some familiar names to the speedway.

Galena's Jesse Stovall is currently sitting first in the USRA points race. He is also running first in points at Bolivar Speedway USA and Monett Speedway and has made several appearances at I-44 Speedway. Stovall has an incredible 12 wins for the season.

Rex Merritt, a regular at I-44 Speedway from Billings, comes in at second in the points standings. Merritt has had one season victory, running at all three tracks. Merritt is second in points only to Stovall at Bolivar and Monett and is in the top five in points in a competitive points battle at I-44 Speedway.

Other drivers in the top 10 USRA points are Steve Martin of Willard and James Flood of Billings. Martin, sixth in national standings, comes in at a close third in points at I-44. Flood is ninth in the national standings.

Schedule notes:

On July 1, I-44 Speedway will also be holding their annual fireworks spectacular. The gigantic fireworks display will be during intermission of that night's races. Kids games sponsored by Relay 4 Life will also be open before the races.

Also, the Mid America Racing Series will be at the I-44 Speedway on July 15.
