(Warrensburg) The home of the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, Central Missouri Speedway sponsored by RSC Equipment Rental of Warrensburg is ready to host a strong field of the area’s best modified drivers who will be on hand this Friday, July 3rd for the Battle of the B-Modifieds featuring a $1,500-to-win event along with modified qualifying for the twelve inside row starting positions with a scramble event for the Saturday special feature. On Saturday night, July 4th, the Sixth-Annual Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ Bowl, with the ‘mighty’ ones racing for the largest modified purse in the Midwest with a $5,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start special 40-lap feature event. Saturday evening racing also includes another modified scramble to settle the final twelve outside row starting spots along with the ULMA Late Models and Street Stocks joining the action before the modified 40 lap feature event with 24 drivers racing towards the big money payout. As always, the evening events will include an Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza.

The race is named after the long-time track announcer and promoter Tom Wilson who worked at tracks all over the Kansas City area for many years then ended up promoting and announcing at CMS for Earl and Susan Walls. Wilson was instrumental in starting a weekly Kansas City radio show along with Scott Traylor covering and promoting local race events. After his sudden passing, Wilson was inducted into the Central Auto Racing Booster’s Hall of Fame honoring his years as an announcer and promoter, flagman and many other positions supporting local racing. This weekend CMS will honor Tom Wilson with the Modified BBQ Bowl special for the sixth year in a row.

Starting the weekend off on Friday night will be the largest B-Modified winning payout in CMS history with the $1,500-to-win special event featuring many of the weekly racers some of the young guns including; Jacob Ebert, Jeremy Lile, Lucas and Ethan Isaacs, Bryan Montgomery, A. J. Tice, Chris Brockway and Michael King who are all registered to race. They all may be on the look-out for Belton driver, Brad Smith who has won 10 area track features including three at CMS this year. Previous b-modified special winners Bobby Raybourn and Brian Ziegler are working on new cars to make the race this weekend after some unfortunate engine and mechanical problems the last few weekends.

When Earl and Susan Walls promote the big money events, it’s hard to say who may stop in to try to take the payout from the CMS regulars. Some of those weekly drivers include current modified points’ leader Aaron Marrant, Dean Wille, James McMillin, Ed Griggs, Joey Lile, Terry Schultz and Chad Lyle along with feature winners, Tim Karrick, Jim Moody, Jason Thompson, ‘Movin’ Dave Meyer, Dustin Boney and Jamie Ragland. Other drivers expected to show include Justin Boney, Donald Danner, and many others. Another driver registered to race is Don Crnkovich from Lenexa, Kansas who took home the first of three big-money races over the Memorial Day special earlier this season.

In addition to the modified qualifying for the twelve outside row positions through a scramble on Saturday evening, an entire full-race program will be presented by the ULMA Late Models and Street Stocks running their regular programs. Current leaders in the ULMA Late Models include Jon Binning, Kevin Coyne, Steve Clancy, Randy Ainsworth and Robbie Test. Brian Johnson sits on top of the Street Stock point standings over Michael Mullins, Nic Bennett, Chad Eickelberry and John Ebert. Fans will enjoy the racing action all weekend in Warrensburg.

Be sure to arrive early to secure your favorite seats for both nights of racing. There are limited primitive camping spots available on a first come-first served basis on the east side of the track. Regular start times apply for both Friday and Saturday with pit gates opening at 4:30, admission gates at 5, drivers' meeting at 6:30, and hot laps at 7, with racing at 7:30.

CMS is located approximately 4 miles north of Warrensburg from the junction of Highways 50 and 13 or coming from the I-70 area, exit at the Higginsville exit and travel south on Highway 13 for about 14 miles. There is plenty of parking on either side of the speedway and there are two grandstands for the fans; the back straightaway stands are alcohol-free for the enjoyment of families attending the races.
