Macon, IL August 24, 2010-(by Jay Hardin)- Acreage on a reclaimed strip mine is thrust into limelight of the auto racing world on Labor Day weekend of 2010 as the 88th annual DuQuoin State Fair hosts three types of racing cars on the "Magic Mile" on September 5 and 6. Auto racing fans will witness over 220 miles of high-speed action in Southern Illinois in less than a 24 hour period over the two days.

The K&N Filters USAC Silver Crown Series takes a title fight to the "Magic Mile" on Sunday night, September 5 as current USAC point leader Bud Kaeding is in search of an unprecedented fourth national title. Due to the rain out of the Tony Bettenhausen 100 at Springfield the 59thi running of the Ted Horn 100 at DuQuoin becomes the second one mile dirt track on the USAC schedule and with the wash out of last year's Ted Horn 100 Brian Tyler returns to defend his 2008 win while Shane Hmiel tries to win part two of the dirt track triple crown after his Hoosier Hundred win at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in May. Over thirty of the big championship dirt cars are expected for this year's Horn 100.

On Labor Day the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards moves to the southern Illinois oval with the 58th Federated Car Care-Southern Illinois 100. This is the second of two dirt track stops for the full-bodied stock cars and the most diverse stock car series in the country. NASCAR's Ken Schrader filed on of the first entries for the Federated-Southern Illinois 100 and thirty-five other drivers in search of a 100-mile dirt track win should join him. If the action at Springfield is any indication of what will take place at DuQuoin fans can expect a wild day of stock car racing on the 'Magic Mile".

UMP Modified race cars join the fray 1,0th days with heat races on Sunday night with the Silver Crown machines and the seventeenth running of the 20-mile Bill Oldani Memorial taking place Labor Day right before the Southern Illinois 100.
