Columbus, MS (1/28/08 ) - After being delayed a week by Old Man Winter, the 8th running of the Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic at Columbus Speedway will be held at 2pm this Saturday, February 2nd. There will also be an open practice session on Friday evening, February 1st from 4pm until 8pm. The Winter Classic will feature four divisions in action including Super Late Models, the NeSmith Late Models National Series, Open Wheel Modifieds, and Street Stocks.

Action was originally slated for last weekend. However, wintry weather that was forecast to move out during the over night hours on Friday, linged through midday Saturday, forcing Columbus Speedway to reschedule the event.

The Super Late Models will be competing in a 40-lap main event paying $3,000 to win. The Stormpay.com Late Model Series will be competing in another 40-lap main with $2,500 going to the winner in their second point’s race of the year. The Open Wheel Modifieds will have their $1,000 to win championship with a 20-lap main. The Street Stocks will have a 15-lap $300 to win main event to conclude the event.
