95 and newer cavalier and sunfire hornet question

i've been building a 97 cavalier hornet to race. last night i was hooking up all the wiring to a switch panel. i went to start it and it starts right up then dies. i did some searching and found that the anti theft (passlock) is kicking in and killing the power to the injectors. i removed everything as far as steering column and ignition switch basically everything that has the passlock in it when i was stripping the car. the thing i need to know is if anyone else has removed this from their newer style cavalier or sunfire car, or how you have all your wiring hooked up. is there i way i can wire around the anti theft? or do i need to start adding some wiring and parts back to the car? i didn't even think about the pcm having some kind of anti theft in it. anti theft to me means car alarm lol. any help would be appreciated. thanks

If you make it to Pevely look up Homey Moody (10H) or Ron Lyons(77) Both have newer cavaliers they run. Im sure they encountered the same issue.

Hey man, I don't have Homer's number, but I do have Ron Lyons #77...(636) 222-1020. I run Pevely with them. Both good guys.

went today and got the cluster and pcm and wiring harness out of a 96. the pcm is different then mine. i should be able to just wire the cluster and everything back in and splice it to my data wire for my computer and it will work right? thanks for all the help so far.

You may not have to put all the wiring back in. When you unhooked everything it may have just kicked the anti theft system on. First check the fuses under the hood. There should be one for the pcm or ecm, I'm not sure what it says. If it is good, go ahead and try to start it, when it dies, don't turn the key back off, just leave it on for about 20 - 30 minutes to be safe, then without turning it off, try to start it again. If it is the antitheft system it should have reset itself by then, and should run fine.

The antitheft system kicked on in my racecar, (a 98 z-24) after a heat race once because the computer fell out of its holder and pulled on some wires. We went through all kinds of crap before finding out what to do from a website. Hope this helps you out.
