A True American HERO killed in Afghanistan

There are heros and there there are REAL heros and today I'm sick over the loss of a True American Hero.

Army Ranger 27-year-old Pat Tillman was killed Thursday in Afghanistan. No, he was not a local man, and no I didn't even know him personally. But what I do know of the man is awe inspiring.

Tillman turned down a $3.5 million contract to continuing being the starting strong safety for the Arizona Cardinals football team to enlist in the Army following the 9-11 tradgedy and earned around $15,000 a year.

Pat would not allow anyone to interview him for special stories about this because he didn't want attention on himself. You will see a bunch of stories about Pat in the upcoming days, especially since Saturday and Sunday is the NFL draft. In all my years of not only covering sports but news in general I've never heard a more compelling story about true patriotism. God Bless you Pat!! Thank you for your courage, strength and conviction. You are my hero!

Every man and woman we loose in the war on terror is a tradjedy, and a lost hero. Living here in the middle of America it is hard to uderstand such evil that causes this war. This particular hero made a great financial sacrifice to serve God and country, but they are all heros, living and dead.

I really hope the anti-war/anti-Bush people do not abuse covering this mans sacrifice of money, and service to further their political and un-american agendas. I feel very sory for his family, friends, teammates, and fans. The world can not afford any more attacks like the ones on the USS Cole, or the 911 attacks, and if this war on multiple fronts is not faught, attacks will continue.

Spain has recently set a scary precident by running away like cowards after they were attacked. By doing that they have made targets of all our less enthusiastic allies in the campaing.

God Bless our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airman, serving, fallen, and vetran.

This is a tragedy (although not any more so than any other soldier lost either there or Iraq), but I wouldn't use it use this as an oportunity to brand people making the most of their constitutional rights (to oppose something that they believe is fundamentally wrong) as un-American.

To hear of an American loss is sad, to lose a fellow American to war ****s. I think another round of bombs to the bad guys and pull out immediately of all troups and supporting countries and let them fend for themselves in their domain. There should be no government money to rebuild what we have destroyed to move a ruler aside. Why should an American taxpayer pay to rebuild something that was destroyed. Thanks to our government for sacrificing our soldiers for a usless cause.
