Trying to find out what does it take to make a 362 small block chevy?

any one who can tell me what it might take.

thanks guys.

362

I believe it too b a sbc 350 block at standard bore with a longer stroke crank @ 3.625 rather than the 3.48 oem stroke. I'm building a 370ci

with that exact stroke @.030 bore over

but I'm not exact on 362 or 363

NASCAR uses 365ci I believe

Someone else correct me as I'm not exactly sure !!

Why are u interested in 362?

Not much more than a 355.

362

I run a 363 flat top motor and it is an animal. It is a 350 bored .030 over with a 3.562 stroke crank. It is a very nice combo in my case for a UMP mod.

You can get 362 cubic inches with a 4.020" bore & a 3.5625" (3 9/16) stroke or a 4.030" bore & a 3.550" stroke or a 4.155" bore & a 3.335" stroke. All bores & strokes are pretty common depending on the type of racing. Steve

.020 350 block with 3.562 crank will get you 361.6. If you custom order .025 over pistons you could get 362.5 with the same crank. About as close as your going to get.

is this a rule?

Im assuming that you are looking at a rule book that says 362c.i. limit. this is how most pure street rules are down south. In this case, it is a 350 bored .060" over with the mandatory stock 3.480" stroke which comes to 360 and they allow an extra 2 for wear.

I believe the "362" came into existence back in the day when most classes mandated a stock oem crankshaft or there wasn't an unlimited selection of reasonably priced aftermarket cranks to come up with any combination you wanted. A guy could use small journal rods and have the crank offset ground to the 3.562 stroke that comes up with that combination.
