Cochran and Cherokee on Tap for This Weekend

Evans, Georgia (03/20/19) – Ahnna Parkhurst’s weekend may have started with a speed bump, but it ended on a high note. After experiencing bad luck on Friday night at Lancaster Speedway, Parkhurst bounced back to record a pair of runner-up finishes on Saturday and Sunday in her LauriesFund.org #23 Richard Childress Racing Crate Late Model.

“Friday night at Lancaster I wrecked and did quite a bit of damage to the car. However, my crew – Andrew, Cornbread, and Jesse – stayed up all night, repairing all the damage. I can’t thank those guys enough for that,” Parkhurst said. “At both Dixie and Talladega, we had a great car, and it showed with our results.”

Friday night found Ahnna Parkhurst in action at Lancaster Speedway (Lancaster, South Carolina), where she was competing in a SECA Crate Late Model event. After starting 11th on the grid, Ahnna was collected by a spinning car in the feature. The ensuing damage ended her night. She was credited with a 10th-place finish.

The following night at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia), Ahnna qualified fourth fastest in a field of 24 cars, which locked her into the fourth-starting position for the A-Main. After crossing the line in third, Parkhurst was promoted to a second-place finish after the leader was disqualified. She trailed only Matthew Turner in the final rundown with Don Jenkins, Payton Freeman, and Jake Rainey completing the Top-5 finishers.

On Sunday afternoon at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama), Parkhurst gained four positions in her heat to place third. Starting the main event in sixth, Ahnna worked her way into a podium spot early and challenged for the lead in the closing laps. Despite her best efforts, Parkhurst came up just short at the line. She registered a runner-up finish behind Sam Seawright with Victory Turner, Travis Smith, and Mike Combs trailing them to the checkers.
