The Heart of Dixie-Action continues this weekend in the Heart of Dixie as the Alabama and Mississippi fans and racers will see one of the most lucrative weekends of racing of the season with over $55,000 in posted cash awards with $12,000 possible to win during the 4 race swing through Alabama and Mississippi. The Southern All Stars and BJ Parker’s Southern Thunder Tour have teamed up providing a fantastic extended weekend line-up.

The racing will get underway at Talladega Short Track on Thursday night July 28th as BJ Parker’s Southern Thunder Tour rolls into TST. The exceptionally racy “Hornet’s Nest” will see Southern Thunder Tour drivers go 40 laps with $2,000 to win and $200 to start on the line with over $11,000 in Super Late Model purse monies up for grabs.

The Southern Thunder Tour will then roll west, 1 mile across the Alabama/Mississippi state line for the first night of double header action at the “Baddest Bullring in the South”, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. Drivers should note there is a $2,000 points fund for the Friday and Saturday events at Columbus Speedway with the top driver receiving $1,000, 2nd place $600 and 3rd place $400.

Action gets underway at the high banked 3/10’s mile oval on Friday Night July 29th as once again Southern Thunder Tour drivers go 40 laps with $2,000 to win and $200 to start on the line with over $11,000 in Super Late Model purse monies up for grabs. Action will consist of single lap pole qualifying locking in the top 10 qualifiers. The remainder of the field will be set through a series of qualifying races plus 2 series provisional starters to round out the 24-car starting field.

Then on Saturday night July 30th, the O’Reilly Southern All Star Super Late Models make their return trip to Columbus Speedway for the $5,000 to win and $300 to start “Homecoming 50.” The last SAS event at Columbus Speedway was in 2001 and it was an epic event as Ronnie Johnson came from 18th starting position to take the win. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see who will be on hand vying for their share of the $20,000 SAS Super Late Model purse that is up for grabs. Action will consist of 2 laps of pole qualifying locking in the top 16 qualifiers. The remainder of the field will be set through a series of last chance qualifiers races plus 2 series provisional starters to round out the 24-car starting field.
