alcohol on street car

is it possible to run alcohol in a built cosworth enenigne for my ford focus? i may use it as a street car for alittle bit but intend to use it as a drag racer
 
Yes you can. But alcohol requires more volume and needs a good fuel pump. If its an injected motor.....also requires bigger injectors. Alcohol is fickle..............if you run a motor lean with it.....takes no time to fry it. But its doable...just remember you need more volume of fuel going to the pistons.
 
your mileage will drop by roughly 30%. (compared to gas) alcohol is very very corrosive by nature, so if the car sets for any length of time unused, it will surely cause problems. as far as legal, it is very legal.flex fuel cars run an 85% mix of alcohol in it, so what the diff? it will be hard to start at about 40 degrees or cooler, so, to answer your question, its possible, just not real cost effective or advisable.
