Take us to school!! I dont care how long you have been racing someone is always tryn and finding out a better or even safer way to setup a car. I think the majority of the SS/bombers run metric cars so I hope there are some that will let us in on those little secrets. I know there are some fast drivers and knowlegable crew members that have moved up and on and some that are coming back to run with what I think is one of the best classes around so oh great ones spill the beans or at least PM me them:D :D !!! Plus with racn over we need something to talk about this winter :)

Randy the way you had your car is fast. I guess the question was a crazy one, who in there right mind would really get on here on tell all they know about setting up a good car. Maybe a single question about the topic would have been better.

Setup is the key to everything. Having a car that works on any kind of track condition is something that takes a good amount of time trying different things etc. Alot of people on here will help you out with good starting points but there is always tweaking to go on to get it to where the car handles right and every driver is different. To get someone to give you all there info as far as scale numbers and stuff like that isn't very good of a chance....:D. I would help you out the best i could if i raced a pure stock/bomber but i don't. Good luck though in trying to get what you want.

just keep this thought in mind... the stiff end slides first. if it's loose, soften the rr, or give the lr more bite. if it's tight, soften the rf, or stiffen the rr... or take some lr bite out of it.

I've offered about 5 times to set your car up. Its not lacking much to be a front runner, motor is not your problem either. Setup and gear, get that damn 10 bolt and 350 tranny out of there for starters. But hey, its not like Tommy had one of the fastest cars anywhere with one of the smallest motors or anything, oh wait he did. He won't have a "basic" motor next year. We had that car tuned where it would literally drive itself, I know because I drove it at Godfrey one night.

there is an ad for a chassis seminar put on by shannon babb flashing across the top of the forums page. sign up and go!!

But I Can Drive Better Than You Sorry About That English Teacher Oh Wait Your A Mecahnic Now What Did Do With That Wrench

Hey now, lets not get all bent out of shape here, the guy just wanted to know all of the things that you guys have tried over the years that worked, and was asking kindly that you not tell him the millions of things that you've tried that didn't.
All I can say is get good advice to start with, know it when you hear it, and make sure you do what that person is telling you. Not everyone is so forthcoming with their help. It's dang hard to get someone to give you GOOD information. So start out asking the right questions, then find out who you can reliably ask. just make sure you don't ignore anything they say, if they think you are just asking to see how smart they are, that is a very short dead end road. Try what they tell you to, and if they are actually interested in helping go back to them and say, I don't think that worked because of..... One more thing, there is absolutely zero, zilch, and I repeat NOOOOO replacement for experience. Theres more than one way to make a car fast. I know guys that could pass me in a sprint car with them in a street stock. Seat time, seat time, seat time. And don't just ride around out there, think about what is going on. Like where are your eyes pointing getting in the corner, at the middle and off. Where are you picking the throttle up at, are you trail-braking, where is Joe Schmo beating me at. Here's the deal, when you are confident you are driving the car to it's extent of control, find a way to get 2 more tenths off that lap time with nothing other than your guts. You'll be suprised how much slowing down and looking deeper can do for you. When you know where you are getting beat, then you can find out ways to fix it. Just go drive and figure out on your own car what makes it work. One thing at a time. Go buy about 100 notebooks. If you're careful you can fill three up in a year. TRACK EVERYTHING. weather, track, tires, pressures, results, suspension, driver notes, there is no insignificance in making yourself better. Just go do it, then you'll be laughing at people that ask this same question next year. And they will.....
