After much discussion, I just logged in to contact Eileen to see if it is also possible for us to also make an important (yet exciting!) announcement at the banquet next weekend. For those who cannot attend, we will post a press release on Justin's web site and newsletter after the banquet.

They are dragging me out into the public so I look forward to meeting everyone there! :)

Let me guess on the suprise...

Justin will be racing "something" @ Daytona in Febuary.

No, that's not what we have to announce but isn't Daytona great!? He did a wonderful job getting his certification and in testing even if we just went there to make a few laps. I spoke with Eileen and the official announcement will be made at the press conference preceding the Banquet of Champions!

I found it very disapointing to find out the banquet was the same night as the tcs party. Why does'nt everybody coordinate what's going on in the racing community. There is three different racing events on the same night. Naturaly we have to go to the one that is giving us money. Sorry we'll miss the fan club.

Bert.......

Yes it is unfortunate that there are three local racing banquets on January 15 and five on January 22. Sometimes banquet organizers don't have much choice in the availability of a particular facility. The good news is.....it means there is that much racing to celebrate in St. Louis.

This brings up an interesting question. To attempt to avoid all the overlap in the future which banquets would you move to a different date and where would you move them on the calendar?

Now Bert I'm not solely asking this question of you. I would be interested in everyone's constructive suggestions.

Congratulations on your track championship. I'm sure your dad is quite proud! Trebbie too! :) :) :)

Wow thats a tough one.

Which banquets to move and how to arrange it? Good question and you are probably the woman for the job. Just kidding I know your plate is full Eileen. It makes sense that the larger functions (Ump Banquet, Fan Club Banquet Of Champions) being the biggest of them all should each have there own seperate night. The local tracks could possibly begin having there celebrations within a month or so of track closing. Staggering them until all have had their own individual celebrations freeing all track champions for the larger banquets. What do any of you think?

congrats to allied doing just that they had theri banguet in Nov. but rules meeting is the same night as the Banquet of champions. I know this is time for the rules to become public knowledge but I sure wish they were held in late October with banquets in Nov and that way the big banquets could occupy Jan

Normally the Banquet of Champions is the LAST weekend in January. However, there were scheduling conflicts with the banquet center (that was the explanation I got), so the Auto Racing Assoc. was forced to move the Banquet of Champions to the weekend of January 15. I'm going to the banquet to represent my organization (RAMS) and support my friends who were 2004 champions, but I would REALLY like to also go to the Allied Rules meeting. I'm sure next year things will work out better...let's keep our fingers crossed.

Before we even get to the Banquet of Champions I want everyone to know the huge amount of work that Eileen and Carol are putting in getting everything ready. So many people take the work of these two fantastic women for granted, but let me tell you right here and now if it wasn't for the two of them this banquet would NEVER HAPPEN. This is the 50th anniversary of the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club's "Banquet of Champions" and it will be Carol's last. I hope some of the people of the fan club take the time and effort to properly thank Carol for her years of work and dedication to the preparation and planning for this banquet over the past years. I don't envy whoever takes over for her next year. Anyway, Carol (and Eileen), thank you so very much for your unbelieveable work you do on this banquet every year. The racers really do appreciate it and so do I...

Carol said the same thing last year! We just need to keep sweet talking her! Now that her and Jesse are married, maybe she's busy doing "other things." Who knows?

All we have to do is tell her that she HAS TO DO IT!

Eileen doesn't have any option either!

WE CAN NOT ALLOW EITHER ONE OF THEM TO STEP DOWN - EVER!
