Can anyone tell me how to run a late model Alt. with just one charging wire? Mine has 4 wires into into the alt. with a plug and one bigger wire on the back. I don't know anything about these later models. Thanks in advance.. Howard:confused:

For Delcotron 10 or 12si alternaters
Battery terminal on alternater (big post) to power source (This must be connected to the main power switch(not the ignition switch) so it kills the power when the switch is turned off, otherwise the engine may still run when the main is turned off. Use #10 wire for this connection.

#2 terminal on alternater to the battery terminal on the alternater
Use #14 wire for this connection.

When you get it hooked up start the car and turn off the main to make sure it kills the engine and test for power at the battery terminal on the alternater, SAFETY FIRST

Hope this helps

tr14, Thanks!! I will try this in the morning. So it's just about like the older style. I wasn't 100%, and didn't want to cook something in this new AC Delco. Thanks for your time....Have a good one.

I don't know which alternater you're using, so you might want to double check those connections with someone else.
Good Luck.

when i ran at tri-city in a latemodel i used a mazda pickup alt with one wire always worked great
