American Modified Series Competes at Fayette County April 30 and Vermillion County May 1

Glasgow, KY-April 22, 2010- After a week hiatus, the American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner will return to action with its first official doubleheader weekend of the 2010 racing season on Friday April 30 at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL and on Saturday May 1 at Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL. Both events will feature a 30 lap A-Main and will pay the AMS feature winner $1,500 and pay $200 to start.

Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL will be the site of the first event of the weekend doubledip on Friday evening April 30. Events at Fayette County Speedway on Friday April 30 will include practice, one lap of SPEC Race Engines group time trials, Wehr’s Machine and Racing Products, PPM Racing Products, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Wiles Driveshafts, Hypercoil Springs, and Willy’s Carbs qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap/$1,500 to win, $200 to start A-Main. Also in action at Fayette County Speedway on April 30 will be Street Stocks, Hornets, and Team Cars.

Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL will be the site of stop two of the weekend’s racing entertainment. Events at Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway on Saturday May 1 will include practice, one lap of SPEC Race Engines group time trials, Wehr’s Machine and Racing Products, PPM Racing Products, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Wiles Driveshafts, Hypercoil Springs, and Willy’s Carbs qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap/$1,500 to win, $200 to start A-Main. Also in action at Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway on May 1 will be Pro Late Models, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Activities for the April 30 Fayette County Speedway date will see the pit area open at 5:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 5:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice immediately after the drivers meeting, followed by group qualifying time trials, with racing at 7:30 p.m. All times are CDT. Ticket prices for this event will be $10 for adults, children ages 8 to 12 $5, and children under age 7 are free, and $30 in the pit area, with children ages 12 and under in the pit area for only $10. Of special note, for race teams taking their children into the pit area, the child waiver/consent form must have the signature of both parents for the child to be allowed in the pit area.

Activities for the May 1 Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway date will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 4:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 5:45 p.m., with practice set for 6:00 p.m. Group qualifying time trials will begin at 6:30 p.m., with racing immediately following time trials. All times are CDT. Ticket prices for this event will be $15 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $5, with children ages 5 and under free, and $30 for pit pass access to the pit area, with children ages 12 and under in the pit area for only $15.

The A-Main purse for the Friday April 30 Fayette County Speedway and Saturday May 1 Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway events are as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $1,000, 3rd- $800, 4th- $700, 5th- $600, 6th- $575, 7th- $550, 8th- $525, 9th- $500, 10th- $400, 11th- $350, 12th- $300, 13th- $275, 14th- $250, 15th through 24th- $200 to start.

Fayette County Speedway is a ¼ mile high banked clay oval promoted by Charlie Depew. Fayette County Speedway is located at 322 West Cumberland Road in Brownstown, IL by taking taking exit 68 off I-70 and proceed east for 3.0 miles on Route 40 prior to turning and entering the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway is a 3/8 mile clay oval promoted by Bob and Angie Pierce. Pierce’s Vermillion County Speedway is located at 17525 North 1180 East Road between Oakwood, IL and Danville, IL. From I-74, take exit 210 and proceed west on US 150, then turn onto Batestown Road (CR1180 E). The American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner last competed at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on April 16 and Michael Long of Quincy, IL won that event. Randle Sweeney of Clifty, KY is the current series points leader heading to Brownstown, IL on April 30, followed by Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY, John Demoss of Bloomington, IN, Matt Goulden of Springfield, IL, and Long. The remainder of the top ten in points are Rob Penny, Brian Shaw, Russ Gabbert, Ed Shamhart, and Devin Gilpin.
