MT. ALTO, WV- The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) has announced that it will hold its annual Technical Inspector's meeting and training session Saturday, March 24 at the race shop of AMRA competitor Robbie Evans near Mineral Wells, West Virginia. Veteran inspector Jason Roberts and veteran race driver and former AMRA inspector Ed Venham will conduct the training. All track inspectors or track representatives are to attend.
Venham brings a vast racing knowledge to the AMRA team as well as a respected voice that the AMRA thinks will bring solidarity to uniform rule enforcement. At this time plans call for Venham to be the roving tech inspector for the organization.
Initially, the tech training was slated for February; however, many tracks had not yet put their race night teams together. The date at that time was changed to the last week in March, but the AMRA found that the date conflicted with many area Test-and-Tune dates. In respect to the AMRA tracks and drivers wishing to participate in those test-and-tune sessions, the AMRA has moved the date to what appears to be a non-conflicting date.

Time for the event will be 1 to 4 p.m.
Directions to the Tech Inspector's meeting will be provided on the AMRA website at << www.amramodified.com >> and will also be listed at the conclusion of this release. The AMRA modifieds must run Hoosier Tires, while the AMRA Late Models currently have an open tire rule.
The technical training for our inspectors will be held to more consistently enforce existing rules and clarify new areas of concern to preserve the fidelity of race cars and maintain a level "playing field" for all. The event will be restricted to all AMRA promoters and their technical inspectors. Tracks are welcome to send more than one technical inspector.
The weight break of 50# for steel non-adjustable, no-Schrader-valved shocks goes into effect his year in hopes of reducing costs and to entice competitors to run shocks that are dependable and less expensive. Also, GM Crate Engines have a weight break again this year.
The AMRA also noted that Crate Engines must have a legal seal, as authorized by GM. New crate engines wishing to get the weight break must have the GMPP seal only. "No counterfeit bolts, nor counterfeit seals will be tolerated."
Presenting awards in excess of $50,000 in prize money and $10,800 in contingencies, the AMRA crowned its 2011 champions at its 19th annual banquet at Cedar Lakes Conference Center last fall. Kenny Johnson, Mineral Wells, WV was the National Champ while Doug Henry, Beverly, Ohio, was crowned as the Modified Road Warrior Challenge Tour champion. Crowned as the AMRA Late Model Division champion was Chris Garnes, Evans, WV. Since 1993, well over half a million dollars has been awarded in prizes and point contingencies.
