(WARRENSBURG, MO) Another great Mighty Modified show started the racing events during a hot and humid evening at Central Missouri Speedway with 100 cars in the pits and a good crowd on hand. The weather cooperated for most of the evening with the sun shining and some brisk winds drying out the track over the course of the day. Track promoters decided early in the day to run the show and made the most of the evening with an A Modified feature from a previous rain out, 2- B modified features and a Street Stock B feature. Unfortunately, the night ended early with the Street Stock division A- feature on the track with only 5 laps completed as the heavens opened up with some much needed rain. The Street Stock Feature will pick up at a future date at lap 6 in the final running order from Saturday night. KMZU -100.7 was on hand to warm up the local racing crowd with interviews from the track and updated race information before the Modifieds started their feature.

The first Farm and Home of Warrensburg Weekly sponsored race of the evening was a much anticipated event after this A feature was rained out 2 weeks ago. Out of the original starting 25 modifieds, 23 started the field with Dennis Walrath of Clinton leading the first and every lap after for his first $1,000 feature win of the season. He had some serious challenges on several restarts from last weeks Memorial Day Weekend modified special winner, Gary Blackburn from Fulton. Another driver sticking his nose into the fray several times was Warrensburg’s Dean Wille. Wille ended the feature with a solid third place finish followed by the smooth driving Terry Schultz from Sedalia. Perhaps the most amazing crash so far this year involved the 83 car driven by Paul Knight out of Blue Springs. He managed to flip over turn three down the slope back onto his wheels and return to the race with the crowd going crazy when he reappeared. Another outstanding run from Moving Dave Meyer from Concordia with a 6th place finish after starting in the 20th position.

In heat number 2, Virgil Jeffrey, out of Ashland charged to the front over and never looked back for the checkers. The 305 Sprints had a tough time keeping their machines on the track tonight. Josh Fisher, a young man from Smithton flipped his car out of turn three with several end over end turns before settling down and walking gingerly away from the wreck. Joe Chevalier out of Belton was the winner of the first 305 Sprint heat with female driver Melody Simpson of Versailles taking second. The second heat included 305 Sprint points leader Gabe Mayc0ck-Middleton, easily taking the checkers followed by Michael White from Lamont and Randy Roberts- Mora.
