Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 26, 2007) – The American Sprint Car Series Coastal Region is gearing up for its second stop of the season at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, as the series takes to the high-banked, 4/10-mile clay oval this Saturday night.

The ASCS Coastal Region held its inaugural event at Deep South Speedway on February 10 in an event co-sanctioned with the ASCS Rebel Region.

Since that time, Amite, Louisiana's Michael Dupuy has proven difficult to handle in ASCS Coastal Region action by posting four feature wins in eight events to build 64-point lead in the championship points race.

Hailing from Gonzales, LA, Michael Herrington currently holds down the runner-up slot on the strength of five top-ten feature finishes, with Robert Casada (Petal, MS), Timmy Thrash (Gulfport, MS) and Todd Fayard (Saucier, MS) rounding out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Coastal Region points includes Shane Morgan (Biloxi, MS), Chris Sweeney (Channelview, TX), Lane Whittington (Denham Springs, LA), 15-year-old Hunter Phillips (Gulfport, MS) and Tommy Hall (Natchitoches, LA).

Saturday's action at Deep South Speedway fires off at 7:00 p.m.

Deep South Speedway is located in Loxley, AL, off I-10 Exit 44, then four miles north on SR 59, then ¾-miles west. For more information contact the track at 251-964-6953.

The ASCS Coastal Region is slated to contest 21 events at 13 different tracks throughout Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
