Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 4, 2007) – After the American Sprint Car Series first asphalt weekend was cut short by Mother Nature, the ASCS Southern Tour will return to Dillon Motor Speedway's 4/10-mile asphalt oval this Saturday night.

The series was initially set to take to Dillon Motor Speedway on Saturday night, June 2, but heavy rain throughout the area forced the postponement.

One night earlier, 21-year-old Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL, became the first asphalt winner in ASCS history with a victory drive at Ace Speedway before the largest crowd in several years at the Altamahaw, NC, oval.

Gohn will try to backup that landmark victory when the series returns to Dillon Motor Speedway on Saturday night. With the triumph, Gohn jumped up to seventh in series points.

At the top of the point charts, Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC, holds a narrow four-point lead over Mooresville, NC, racer Brian Smith. Gohn's stepfather, Kenny Adams, is third in points, with Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL, and T.J. Winegardner of Pierson, FL, rounding out the current top five.

Saturday's action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Dillon Motor Speedway is located in Dillon, SC, off I-95 Exit 193, then west. For more information, contact the track at 843-774-1888.

The ASCS Southern Tour is slated for 18 nights of action in 2007 at a dozen different tracks throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
