Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 30, 2006) – Regional action for the American Sprint Car Series kicks off this weekend with the inaugural event for the ASCS Mid-South Region at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on Saturday night. A stout field of entries is expected including past ASCS National champions Gary Wright and Travis Rilat along with a number of other top National Tour contenders in a preview of the April 29 O’Reilly ASCoT event slated for I-30 Speedway.

Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. – I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR.

Notable:

The track that hosted the first ever ASCS National Tour event on May 15, 1993, with Mike Ward taking the win, now hosts the inaugural ASCS Mid-South Region event. A number of ASCS National Tour contenders, including Gary Wright, Travis Rilat, Jason Johnson, Sean McClelland, Jan Howard and Sam Hafertepe, Jr., are expected to take on Mid-South Region championship hopefuls such as Dale Howard, Josh Howard, A.G. Rains and Bryce Vowan.

Three-time ASCS National champion Tim Crawley swept I-30 Speedway’s opening weekend of Sprint Car action on March 10 and 11, with defending track champion Pete Butler taking victory honors in last Saturday night’s weekly card in Little Rock.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
