Adds Senoia Raceway Limited Late Model Victory

NEWNAN, Ga. (07/27/21) – Austin Horton double dipped in Victory Lane over the weekend. The party started with a $4,053 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals win on Thursday night at West Georgia Raceway and was followed up with a Saturday night Limited Late Model triumph at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway.

The victories pushed his 2021-win total to 11 in his Orr’s Trucking No. 16 Super K Express/ Horton Flyer/ XR1 Rocket Chassis entry.

“Man, what a great weekend for our team. It was a busy one, but we came away with two wins and a third-place finish in three starts. Things went pretty flawless at West Georgia Speedway, but we really had to dig deep to get the job done at Senoia Raceway. This season has really been a great one for us so far, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish during the second half of the year,” Horton said. “Every single person that sponsors or turns a wrench on this car… I thank them all. Great support is what keeps us a contender each-and-ever night.”

Austin Horton made his 2021 debut with the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals on Thursday for the series’ first ever visit at West Georgia Raceway (Whitesburg, Ga.) for the Red Clay Revival.

With 27 cars entered, Horton recorded a blistering lap of 14.090 seconds in time trials to claim the fast time honors. Earning the pole position for the A-Main, Austin fended off Brent Dixon after a late-race caution on lap 37 to secure his 10th win of the season and third of his career with the Southern Nationals. Other than four restarts in the feature, Horton remained virtually uncontested throughout the 40-lapper to pick up the $4,053 prize. He finished ahead of Dixon, Pearson Lee Williams, Garrett Smith, and Kenny Collins.

The triumph was the third of his career with the tour.

After taking Friday off, Austin visited Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) on Saturday afternoon to pilot his No. 16 Limited Late Model. He topped the field in qualifying before charging from the 14th-starting position in the feature to record his 11th win the season and second win in as many nights. Mark Page, Oliver Gentry, Glenn Morris, and Jason Turner followed him across the line.

Returning to action with the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals on Sunday, Horton stopped at Rome Speedway (Rome, Ga.). With qualifying results lining him up fifth on the starting grid for the $4,053-to-win A-Main, Austin nosed ahead of Dale McDowell late in the 40-lap affair to take third, where he would eventually finish. He followed Randy Weaver and Donald McIntosh to the checkers with McDowell and Dalton Cook rounding out the Top-5.
