AUTO TIRE & PARTS RACEPARK CLOSED

What's so funny is I've already proven some of the established promoters wrong in their way of thinking for 2004. You can't run a track like it's 1980 or 1990. We are in the entertainment business and that's the way it needs to be addressed.

By the way Jamie, where do you think I got some of my ideas from... LOL.. How many of you thought by now that Fredericktown would be closed? I was told by the best of them my ideas would never float... Well, (knock on wood) I don't think Fredericktown has ever been as successful as it is today. It's not just because of my ideas, but they sure didn't hurt. I've never worked with somebody as dedicated as Terry. With him it's 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and that's not an exaggeration. When I told him we needed to work hard in the off-season with meetings with the drivers, track officials and sponsors, he took it by the horns. But it's that kind of committment that will turn a dead track back to life... I'm proud of what we've accomplished in less than one-year at "The Rock." I don't know if it would be possible to do something similar at Benton but it's such a nice facility it just makes you sick to think it would sit and rot...

I Agree Millsey!!! In My Opinon, Die Hard Race Fans Come To The Races For The Races. They Will Come Back Next Week Even If The Week Before Something Didn't Suit Them. But, "new" Spectators Need Something To Bring Them Back. The Races Themselves Sometimes Take Time To Grow On Them. Thats Where I Think The Entertainment Value Comes In.

Btw..jeff....you And Terry Keep Up The Good Work With The Rock. I Think You Guys Are Doing A Good Job. You Care About The Racer And You Guys Take Input From Those Involved And Use It In The Decisions That Are Made And I Think That Is Good. As The Saying Goes, 'rome Wasn't Built In A Day". I Think Things Will Only Get Better.

Is Benton Closed for good or was they just closed for the weekend. I just talked to someone that said they are still running. I hope they are because it is a nice place. Maybe someone from Benton could respond to let us know

Millsey is touting Fredrocks success, some of the things they are doing, and have done are. First the track changed hands to a less polished, and alot more honest man. They put out flyers in the neighboring towns, they treat the racers as well as they can so the people who race and go there try to talk up the place and get others to attend. They are currently paying the classes they have exeptionally well. A larger and more expensive track would probaby not succeed with the format the Rock has, the lease there is not as large as it would be for ATPR, you would need alot more promotion work, and real headliners. Five dollar nights, buy one get one half price nites, ect would help any track. I have never heard alot of talk of racers being shafted at Benton, they just didn't pound the streets promoting the place, billboards, print, radio, flyers on counters at businesses, car shows in the spring time, ect.. I do feel that a facility as large and expensive as ATPR would not make enough money to pay the bills if it was not ran well, promoted hard core, selling alot of food, soda, and beer, and having a real headliner class.
