Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 13, 2018) – To say that the last week has been a big one for Brady Bacon would be understatement.

The Broken Arrow, OK, native picked up one of the most significant victories of his career last Thursday night by collecting the $15,000 winner’s share at the inaugural running of the USAC Midget “BC39” that goes into the books as the initial event atop The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

And a good portion of that paycheck will go towards diaper money after he and wife Xia Xianna welcomed their third child on Monday morning with Linley Jean rounding out the family that includes siblings Levany and Lowry.

Another pair of events await this weekend with USAC Sprint Car action at the Terre Haute Action Track on Friday night and then the $10,000-to-win Haubstadt Hustler at Haubstadt Speedway on Saturday night.

The USAC National Midget series christened the new Dirt Track at IMS last Wednesday night with Bacon battling to a win in the twelfth and final heat race of the night.

After racing from fifth to second in his qualifying race on Thursday night, Bacon started the feature in seventh and worked his way forward aboard the FMR No. 76m entry.

Bacon ultimately chased down the lead in traffic and took command for keeps on the 31st round of the 39-lap feature event for his eighth overall win of the year.

“This one ranks right up there, to win the first dirt track race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is really special,” Bacon said of the victory.

Overall, Bacon was impressed with the initial event held at the newly-constructed dirt rack inside the world’s most famous race track.

“It exceeded my expectations,” Bacon says. “The heat races were really good on Wednesday night and then even with weather a big problem on Thursday, they worked hard to get the show in and make it a good one.”

With his first USAC Midget win of the year now in the books, Bacon looks to add some additional hardware over the course of this weekend at Terre Haute and Haubstadt. Bacon already has three series wins to his credit this season aboard the Brady Bacon Racing No. 99 Sprint Car.

“We have the Sprint Car going well right now,” the two-time USAC National Sprint Car champion says. “We’re always pretty good at Terre Haute, but at Haubstadt we’re kind of hit or miss. We have changed a couple of things so hopefully we’ll hit it right this time.”
