Lebanon,Mo.-Despite overnight rains, the first Sat Special of the season went off as planned at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway with over 90 cars in the pit area as extra dollars were up for grabs in the Modifieds, factoryStocks, and Bombers
In the 3 wide 150 lap enduro feature veteran Dave Willliams grabbed the early lead and was setting a blistering pace in the 30 car field and by lap 40 was in a lap all by himself leaving Tim Brown,David Bates,Brian Monahan,Rex McCroskey,John Anthony and Bobbye Williams to battle for second place.
On lap 51,Williams showed a puff of smoke and the leader pulled out of contention on lap 54 giving Tim Brown the lead with Bates in second as the only cars on the lead lap as McCroskey also pulled in with problems. As the feature wore on,Bates began pulling closer to the leader Brown and took over the top spot on lap 96 to only have Brown take back over 2 laps later. The long distance began to take its toll on cars as the field was down to 15 running at lap 125 with Brown still setting on top of the standings.
Moving through traffic again,Brown's car starting pushing hard coming out of turn 4 as Bates began to run down the leader and on lap 136,Bates grabbed the top spot with Brown right on his bumper.Going through the traffic,Bates and Bobbye Williams made contact and Brown closed-up again and grabbed the lead on lap 140 only to see Bates come back with 7 laps remaining and grabbed the win with Brown finishing second followed by Williams 2 laps down and John Anthony 3 laps down while Don Atkinson rounded out the top 5 10 laps down.
The FactoryStock feature saw Tim Brown lead the 20 lap affair from the start to grab the win while the battle in the 20 car field was fast behind Brown with Ron Myers grabbing the runner-up honors followed by Tony Jackson Jr, Todd Cook and Dave Wallace as positions kept swapping behind the lead duo involving Randy Berry,Brad Gayer,Wayne Degase, and Glen Dismang, and Doug Rich.
The Modified feature would see Ken Dickinson grab the lead from his front row starting spot followed closely by Kevin Halderman,Rusty Dukes,Eric Hudson, and Jamie Ragland.Dukes would retire later with problems as Halderman grabbed the top spot on lap 7 with Ragland in tow.A couple of yellows for a pack of spins kept the field close as Halderman and Ragland kept the top 2 positions as Hudson retired with problems early. As the feature took a long green run,Ragland began to apply pressure to Halderman's car as Rustin Miller was making alot of ground through the pack and grabbed third place on lap 16.A quick yellow on lap 21 saw the running order Halderman,Ragland,Miller Tony Fatino, early leader Dickinson. On lap 23 Ragland moved to the inside of Halderman and grabbed the top spot as Halderman took back the lead going out of turn 2.Ragland made a strong move again in turn 3 as the lead duo took the white flag as Rustin Miller was gaining quickly. With Ragland again in control,Halderman got a great bit out of turn 2 and took over as the leader while Ragland pulled along side going into turn 3 as the duo were side by side coming for the checkered while Halderman got the bit on the high-side to nip Ragland at the line.Following the leaders through were Miller, early leader Dickinson,Tony Fatino,Justin Newman,Terry KirkRobbie Ott and Jimmy Willis in an action packed event.
The Bomber feature had point leader Justin Stoufer grab the early lead while Carl Weaver pulled into second followed by Missy Shaw,Dusty Rhoads, and Jennifer Crouch.
While Stoufer was setting a strong pace,runner-up Weaver got collected up along with Larry Rifenburg in an incident heading into turn 3 giving Shaw the runner-up spot followed by Rhoades,Crouch and a fast moving Mike Piercy.Rhoades would head to the pits on a yellow sending his car to the back.On the restart,Stoufer was long gone in fornt as Shaw,Piercy, and Crouch were battling for second as Matt Haynes came up quickly to challange. As the checkered flew,Stoufer grabbed his second win of the season followed by Shaw,Piercy,Crouch Haynes,Rhoades,Dale Rodden,Chad Cromer,Jerry Goring, and Les Hayes.
Friday Night will be double points night featuring the Winged Sprint Cars,SuperStocks,Modifieds,FactoryStocks,Bombers and Mini-Stocks with racing at 8PM and then on Sat Night The National Flattrack Motorcycle Racing Association will be on hand Racing.
