Independence, Missouri driver Scotty Martin has dominated the B-modifieds so far this year by claiming 7 feature wins, but in recent weeks other drivers have stepped up their racing programs to win several events. Drivers winning features this season include Rusty Trimble, Jeremy Lile, Bryan Montgomery and most recently Brian “Ziggy” Ziegler. There are also several strong challengers to watch including Ethan and Lucas Isaacs, Joshua Jacobs, Mark and Owen Evinger, Michael King, Chris Brockway, Michael Mullins and Bobby Raybourn. Last weekend Warrensburg’s modified driver Dean Wille pulled double duty and drove a B-modified for the first time this year. He along with street stock driver Chad Eickleberry intends to compete for the special feature this weekend. Since this is a special event for the B-modifieds, regular track points will not be awarded for this special race.

Time and weather permitting, there will be a driver autograph session highlighting the B-modified drivers; however, all drivers are urged to participate during this intermission-time event. Drivers will be called to come to the grandstand areas to meet their fans and to sign autographs. Promoters Earl and Susan Walls are expecting another strong field of the best drivers throughout the Midwest as well as bleachers full of loyal dirt race fans for this special event.

Last week there were 75 cars present in the four regular racing divisions at the CMS track with the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-modifieds. The action was hot and heavy on the CMS-Kenny’s Tile track when Jon Binning of Warrensburg and Smithville driver Brett Rollert put on a racing clinic during the ULMA feature with exciting side-by-side moves with Binning finally taking the checkered flag. The popular driver from Concordia, “movin” Dave Myer prevailed to produce his first CMS modified feature win this season. And Brett Nail from Raytown led the entire Street Stock event for his first feature victory of the year.

The always popular Kids Night at the races is just a few weeks away. Fans and drivers can assist by contacting Susan Walls or Hershel Thompson at the track to add donations for the kid’s goody bags. The children will run a foot race based on age groups on the track at intermission. All participating children will go home with a bag of donated drivers cards, photos, shirts and other back to school items.

For current and up-to-the-minute racing status call the track report line by dialing (660) 747-2166.
