Bedrock 2012 Class Structure......please read and comment!!!!

If lo206 is ran, can we please leave it set at the briggs rules? as written, no exceptions?

Thanks Toby just let me know on the clutches. Ive got new 3 full time racers and 2 part time for bedrock all will be Jr 1 clone looks like, Looks like 4 LO206s as well If you do allow the 206s i would go with the briggs rules all the way will make it easier on you guys and the racers i believe this class will end up huge with the amount of calls im getting.

I am leaning in that direction as well.
That would be 2 of us Matt, anyone else who runs there thinking about a 206?
Steve

Yes weight is to much if we are not running flat heads and clones together there is no reason to add any weight they can be same as flathead then we could just change motors to switch if you wanted to. Cole is 10 we can run jr1 or jr2 I won't even think about jr2 clone at 290 lbs that's to much lead the kart doesn't want to work.

Don, you'll have to decide where you want to run Cole. The weight difference between Jr1 and Jr 2 is 25 pounds regardless of motor. The added weight is to keep the lap times similar, that way changing classes doesn't throw off the kid's timing.

Alex will start in Jr2 flathead. If that class doesn't have enough karts I'll move him to the clones. From all the feedback the jr classes should be the strongest they've been in a very long time.

If we run jr1 clone do we have to run jr1 flathead I don't know how it will work I just think if kart count is not there guys will quit comming , we had a great class last year, I think your looking at 4 to 5 karts per class. Cole just turned 10 we can run jr1 or jr2 I think moving them up may make them better but I think they lurn more raceing with more karts.i know when we go out of town this year to some big shows we will be running jr1 . I just don't want to have to change the kart all the time. If any jrs read this could we maybe get a role call on who is running what? I don't really know what to do. We will stay in jr1 if there are karts to race. I know at the last race at duqoin we all ran jr1

Good question. From the track's prospective I'd think...a jr1 driver is a jr 1 driver, no switching.

At some point we'll have to split the kids up. We've got two regulars that are 12 and 13....they really shouldn't be racing 8 year olds.

Ya I understand that makes up my mind I would think about moving up to jr2 with flathead at 275 but 290 in jr2 clone is to much lead for me the kart just doesn't work with that much lead it's proble ok with the older kids less lead! I guess we will be staying in jr1 for one more year! If there are karts in those classes will come over!

Tobi,
There is a family in Highland planning to start racing Bedrock this year. They will have a 5, 8 and 10 year old all running flatheads. Hope this helps as you move forward making a decision on the Jr. classes.
Kevin

All -

The 2012 Bedrock Raceway rules and class structure will be posted on the website soon. Thanks for all your input, we do appreciate it!

If your child is between classes due to age, you can run either class. Just like the majority of the other tracks in the region, your child can race up 1 class based on age (if allowed by the track), but cannot race down a class if they are over the age limit. When I say "if allowed by the track," I mean it is at the tracks discretion to determine whether it is safe for your child to race up 1 class. Points are based on the driver and class. We do NOT transfer points from one class to another for the same driver. We want all the JR classes to have a decent field of karts, so we may need to make some modifications if we don't get enough karts in one class. I have heard from several people that we will have more JR flatheads and clones this year, but as you all know, we will just have to wait and see...

Thanks,
Justin

Justin there are a few more changes to the 2012 rules dealing with the outlaw class. I'll email them to you.

tobi paul and i would prefer to have a jr 1lo 206 class if there are not enough jr 1 fh. it would make the kids better racers because the premium would be on driving and setup. jmho

We'll have to see what the turn out looks like, I'm sure some tweaking will be needed.
