Big Shows and Promoter Research

"Greetings & Salutations"
I've read about all the articles on the whole Benton ordeal and have this to say. Why do promoters continue to walk all over each other and not work together in order for US FANS TO ENJOY RACES, or really take the time to consider the circumstances of their decisions !!??!! No one in their right mind would schedule and expect to have a successful late model event so close to the St. Louis/UMP racing area on a Friday night, or Saturday night for that matter. It just won't work, the UMP guys stay local, always have, always will, that's just the way it is. On Friday nights alone you have late models running at Belleville, Godfrey, Paducah and Clarksville. Plus there are several other tracks within a couple-hour drive from Benton that run on Fridays, the fans stay local on their local nights, proven fact! Last year at Tri-City's X race, only a handful of locals showed up because it was held on a normal UMP points night. I was at the event and it was good, but if ran on another night it could have drawn a much larger crowd and car count. This year is a different story with all the tire B.S. that's going on so it's probably a good thing the X cars aren't coming back to the area. I can only hope that the future of racing includes promoters who are willing to work together for the benefit of US FANS who give them their paychecks and promoters who really sit down and think about their decisions and how they effect the racing community! The next example of "interesting" scheduling for all of you in the Stl area will be when the Northern All-Stars will be at Brownstown, IL, and the MARS boys from out my way will be at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City on 20 June. I'm not sure what kind of car counts each will have but they both have potential to be thru the roof, this is a Sunday and if promoted the right way should draw many fans. Mooney Starr is a very respected promoter and I think he will have great success with the MARS cars at Granite as will the people with the All-Stars at Brownstown. Just think about how huge it could be if there weren't two major shows on this one off UMP night??? One good thing could come out of the June 20th event and having two major sanctioning bodies racing so close though, the following night, the Summer Nat's start at Godfrey!?!?!?!?

samIam and always will be !

That being said, I hope the MARS show at TCS is a huge success, with lots of cars and fans. A good chance for the Stl crowd to see some other "NAME" LM drivers come to their area.
