BILLY DRAKE skips MASTERS and masters TWIN 30's at Farmer City!

Billy Drake decided to skip the Cedar Lake event and tune up for the midwest romp known as the UMP Summer Nationals starting next week, and chose to stay close to home this weekend before starting the grueling grind next Monday!

As a preliminary to the Summer Nats and a test and tune he dropped in amongst 35 other cars and stars and took home the winners gelt in not one but both of the 30 lap main events sponsored by RC Cola. drake driving the all familiar #9 Mastersbilt was clearly the class of the field in both events. A BIG CONGRATS to Billy on his wins this evening and may the momentum carry him to a nice beginning of the 2003 edition of the UMP King of Dirt Summer Nationals Series!

Mike Glasscock started the evning by turning the fastest qualifying lap for the night with a time of 13.171.

The trophy dash honors were accorded to Drake as he took the checkers ahead of Roger Long, Justin Allgaier, Kevin Weaver, Glasscock and Mike Mullvain.

The first heat was topped by Toby Sharp over Mike Glynn, Jimmy Loomis, Eddie Schickel, Patterson, Ron Baumann, Hamilton and Brad Shelly.

The second heat was won by Jay Sparks over Richie Hedrick, Butch Smith, Dick Potts, #12, Cory Daugherty, Rolfe and Lonnie Franklin.

The third heat went to Jr. Schickel over Jeff Leka, Michael Bradley, Gary May, Cody Hupp, Joe Ross, Jr., Jason Feger, Donnie Walden and Chris Dick.

The fourth and final heat went to Long ahead of Steve Sheppard, Jr., Eric Smith, Allgaier, Glasscock, Kevin Weaver, John Woodard and Drake.

Consi action would transfer the final 6 starters for the main events with Ross, Jr., Marvin Burton and Jr. Schickel transferring from the first consi and Leka, May and Sparks finding a way to the main in the second consi.
