(10/28/08) -- This weekend.... THE DOUBLE BARRELLED SHOT-GUN of Brian Birkhofer was loaded AGAIN collecting his second $10,000. or higher paying prize (in as many weeks) in MISSISSIPPI... while the KENTUCKY COLONEL Steve Francis chalked up win # 7 of 2008 in VIRGINIA worth $10K - Current National RANKINGS Top 5 points leader Billy Moyer added to his points lead and it seem possible (NOT PROBABLE) the one BLACK SUNSHINE could FALL from the National RANKINGS Top 5 - that and much more on the National RANKINGS Report # 081028.

Birky, Brian Birkhofer raced to victory for the second consecutive week in the National RANKINGS. Fresh off the heels of his $50,000. DTWC, the Muscatine, Iowa racer made the trek South to Meredian, MS (no.... not in Columbus) for the unsanctioned $15,000. FALL CLASSIC event. The # 15B 'Daufeldt Transport, J&J Steel, Simon Trucking, ASi Racewear' sponsored Pro Power race engined Chevrolet racer lists this weekends NATIONAL 100 race in Phenix City, Alabama as his final race of the 2008 season on his web-site. Odds are he'll be in North Carolina for the WoOLM series' finals.

Steve Francis was having his cake and eating it too... pocketing the $10,000. of the 100 lap portion of the WINCHESTER 200. The Beitler Enterprises # 19 'Valvoline, Reliable Painting, VP Racing Fuels, Integra Shocks' sponsored Rocket / Custom Race Engines powered swept all the weekend events. The Ashland, KY native will NOT successfully defend his WoOLM series National Points Championship, as fellow Kentuckian Darrell Lanigan has things well in place. This fact, even though he is ranked 12th with only one (1) $10,000. or higher win this season. HENCE part of the reason the late Gary Jacobs helped create the rankings system.

MR. SMOOTH collected more points with his runner-up finish in OLE' MISS Saturday. The current National RANKINGS Top 5 points leader has a 125 point lead over Owens and leads the rankings with twelve (12) victories. Owens whom has collected nine (9) wins so far leads Francis, his TEAM ZERO Boss-man Bloomquist (6) and 3rd ranked Shane Clanton (5) in the win column. BLACK SUNSHINE actually is in threat of dropping from the Top 5 of the National RANKINGS, for the first time since it's conception. Francis sits merely 5-POINTS behind Bloomquist, while/if Birkhofer can keep producing MR. OCTOBER numbers, both have the opportunity to advance past the 2007 National RANKINGS champion.

Next weekend after the three (3) events Lowe's Dirt Track events that wrap-up the WoOLM series season, Sunday many racers will head for the Thomas' Place and the $30,000. payout which is the final STAKKED 10 DOUBLE POINTS event of the season. Rain and cold weather pushed the Hagerstown, Maryland finale to November 9th, which will coinside with the final tallied race of the National RANKINGS at Cherokee Motor Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. Both events pay $10,000. to-WIN. The sister rankings system; the minimum $5,000. paying, Southern region events and the Lite Top 5 standings of $3,000. - $4,999. to-WIN races will continue thru the end of November.
