FRANKLIN, PA (7-3-07) – The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions took a short breath after the conclusion of Ohio Sprint Speedweek and headed to Western PA’s Tri-City Speedway to join in the “Freedom Fifty”
celebration on the night before the 4^th of July holiday. The All Stars added excitement to the event by making it worth double points for the All Star drivers. Dale Blaney capitalized on that by scoring another victory – his 4^th in just over a week.
Local star Rob Eyler jumped out to the early lead from his front row starting position and held onto the lead until lap 8 when Greg Wilson, who won the last time the series visited Tri-City, would take over the top spot. Wilson, who had some bad luck over the past week, was looking to gain some of those points back, but point leader Danny Smith was hot on his heels running in 5^th place. Blaney was closing fast on Wilson and had him in his crosshairs for a few laps before finally making his move at the mid-point of the race. With local star Rod George running 3^rd and holding Danny Smith at bay in 4^th , Blaney was running down Wilson for a shot at the lead.
On lap 25 Blaney shot past the leader and drove to the checkered flag on lap 30 to pocket another $5000. Wilson would have to settle for second ahead of George, Smith, local favorite Ed Lynch Jr., and Brian Paulus who both made a late charge toward the front.
Heat races were won by Rod George, Danny Smith, and Rob Eyler. B-main action saw Bill Rose take the checkered flag. George was also the Huggins Cams Fast Qualifier for the evening.
