Blank, Clancy and Skidmore leading at end of Double-X season

With only one race left in the season, point leaders in each division held tight to their respective leads Sunday – each claiming the checkered flag.

California’s Tyler Blank started the night strong and finished the same way taking both the heat and the feature win in the 360 Winged Sprints making it his second Double-X win of the season.

David Brown, Marshall, trailed in with a close second followed by Tony Crank, Sedalia, in third; Taylor Walton of Warrensburg in fourth and Bradley Potter of Jefferson City in fifth.

The top five point leaders in the Winged Sprints Division are; Blank 1047, Evan Martin 830, Dakota Carroll 802, Curtis Evans 744, Adam Jones 735.
California’s John Clancy Jr. brought his fans to their feet Sunday when made his 5th trip down victory lane to claim the checkered flag in the Street Stock Division.

Clancy was followed by the "Tipton Tornado" Tim Cressley who finished with a close second; Harlan “Boy” Dowell, Tipton, in third; Kevin Caldwell, Tipton, in fourth and California’s own Brant Koetting in fifth place.

Clancy also claimed the victory in the Street Stocks heat race.

The top five point leaders in the Street Stocks Division are; Clancy, 1236, Dowell 1212, Cressley 951, Koetting 677, Ray Smith 671.

Luke Skidmore, Green Ridge, didn’t disappoint his fans Sunday claiming a victory in both the second heat and the feature race in the Hobby Stocks Division.

Making his way down victory lane for the fourth time this season, Skidmore continues to lead in the Hobby Stocks points.

Sedalia’s Miranda Arnold gave Skidmore a run for the flag in the feature race after taking first place in the first heat.

Although she couldn’t pull out ahead of Skidmore, she maintained her second place running followed by Cherry Wineland, California, in third; A.J. Wirts, California, in fourth; and Don Montavy of Barnett in fifth place.

The top five point leaders in the Hobby Stocks division are; Skidmore, 1280, Arnold 1059, Bridget Clifford 954, Brian Murphy 818, Wineland 763.

Making their final '09' appearance at Double-X Speedway Sunday night were the 600cc Micro Midget Sprint Cars. Drivers from all around Central Missouri brought their cars to the track in hopes of taking home a checkered flag.
Scott Hathman, Columbia, and Cole Melby, Sedalia, each claimed a victory in the heat races. But in the end, it was Melby who took home the trophy followed by Nathan Benson, Columbia, in second place; Hathman in third; Rusty Creason, Columbia, in fourth place and Dean Hathman, Columbia, in fifth place.

Racers weren’t the only winners of the night at Double-X Speedway. Attendance prizes were awarded to Edward Walls, Stover; Darren Rowles, Jefferson City; Dolores Holdren, Tipton; Abbey Gillian, Jeff City; Adam Clancy, Clarksburg; Sydni Stoecklein, Lee's Summit; Larry Woolery, Clarksburg; Larry Branham and Paul Rissler both of California.

And, three kids went home with the title of Race Kid of the Night and a bag of goodies and cash awards. Honored were: Kayle Hampton of California, Lynzee Stanley and Jeremy Longanecker both of Jefferson City.

You will not want to miss next week’s track action! Being the last race of the season, track promoters Kyle and Carol Wirts have an array of activities scheduled including a powder puff race and the infamous mechanics race!

The '2009 Double-X Point Champions" will be announced and all awards including 'Rookies of the Year' and perfect attendance will be presented. Drivers who have participated in 75% of events will be also be rewarded with their share of the point money which will be mailed at a later date.

And, race fans…you have one more chance to make your favorite race car driver the C&R Supermarket People’s Choice Winner! Voting will end at the fall of the green flag on the first feature race within minutes after intermission.
