need help please. had to take bert 3 speed trans. out of modified race car and when i put everything back in, my clutch pedal just goes to the floor. do i have to bleed the clutch line that goes to transmission from the resevoir? if yes, how is this done? this is my first experience with a race car. thank you for your help.

here is the neatest way i have found to bleed a clutch. keep in mind that air wants to go 'up', and the bleeder is down at the lowest point at the trans. doesn't want to work well. reverse bleeding will do the trick. heres what to do: get yourself a new. pump oil can. the kind that you squeeze the handle to squirt oil. they hold 6 or so ounces, and set on the workbench. get a new one, or clean out a used one REAL REAL good. fill it with clean new brake fluid. put a short piece of rubber vacuum bose on the spout of the oiler can, hook the other end to the bleeder on the slave cyl. pump it a few times to get all the air out of the oil can and hose 1st. loosen the bleeder screw, hook the hose up, and pump the oil can until it's nearly empty. the clutch master(make sure the lid is off) will overflow with fluid, and in doing so, any air that was in the system will come out as well. make sure you don't empty your oil can with brake fluid in it, otherwise you are just adding more air to the system. may have to do this a couple of times to get the air out. be sure to leave the wrench on the bleeder while the hose is hooked up, and close the bleeder screw when you disconnect the hose to refill the oil can. all you are doing basically, is forcing fresh fluid backwards thru the system, taking any air with it. remember air wants to go to the top anyway. make sure the cluth master is absolutely level, otherwise it will trap air in the master. that is the neatest way i have found, and it works like magic.art.
