Bloomquist tops Golden Isles finale!

Scott Bloomquist added to his ever growing list of accomplishments and padded his bankroll by $10,000 in claiming the 40 lap A-Main finale of the 2005 Super Bowl of Racing at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia tonight. Racking up another DIRTY DOZEN win in the 2 day event, Bloomquist topped last nights winner Darrel Lanigan as the pair were followed to the stripe by Dan Schlieper making the Saturday night affair a World of Outlaws Dirty Dozen trifecta!

Bloomquist, "Black Sunshine" drove masterfully on the black ice known as Golden Isles in the Miller Brothers Coal, Hawkeye Trucking, Sweet Engineering, Hoosier Racing Tire VP Racing Fuel Ohlins Shock, Bloomquist Race Cars mount and was never challenged as he led the entire 40 circuits. Following Bloomquist at the stripe were Lanigan, Schlieper, Pearson, Johnny Collins, Mike Head, Dennis Erb, Ray Cook, Kenny Pettyjohn, Billy Decker, Tim Fuller, Matt Liftrott and Jackie Boggs.

Lanigan, fresh off the heels of victory in last nights $10,000 preliminary also will take home a new track record to Union, Kentucky as he bumped off Skip Arp's record which was only 24 hours old. Lanigan turned the 5/8 speedplant in 15.699 seconds for an average lap speed of 143.321 miles per hour!

First heat race action was topped by Jacksonville, Florida racer Michael Lloyd in Patrick Sheltra's backup car over Gerald Meents, Mike Head, Kenny Pettyjohn, Dennis Erb, Mike Carter, Sonny Conley and Chris madden who scratched from the heat.

Second heat honros went to Bloomquist over Schlieper, Sheltra, Johnny Collins, Dennis "Rambo" Franklin, Ray Cook, Reed Millard and Freddy Carpenter.

The third and final heat was captured by Lanigan over Skip Arp, Earl Pearson, Freddy Smith, Billy Decker, Jack Pennington, Tim Fuller and Matt Lifftrott.
