Bluegrass Classic at Bardstown up Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

CORONA, CA (August 21, 2007)-After hitting the road for back to back events in Illinois and Indiana this past weekend the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to the Bluegrass State of Kentucky for the 7th Annual "Bluegrass Classic" on Saturday Night, August 25th at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. With a winner's purse of $10,000 on the line and the cameras of SPEED Channel on hand to tape the event the premier dirt late model touring series revs up for the beginning of its 2007 stretch run.

With seven point's races left this year two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL has the point's lead once again ending into the final seven events. Pearson who drives for 2000 NASCAR Cup Champion, Bobby Labonte has a 155 point advantage over Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN. Pearson has five series victories this season including last Friday's sterling run from his 13th starting spot to win at Kankakee. James has two wins this win on the ultra-competitive series and five second place finishes. Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN is third in points followed by Terry English of Benton, KY and Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH. English and Moran are separated by only ten points heading into the race at Bardstown this weekend.

Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY with one series victory this year still leads the COMP Cams Rookie of the Year chase and currently resides in sixth place in points. Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL and Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI are just 20 points apart in the race for seventh place in points. Damon Eller of Crumpler, NC and Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN hold down positions nine and ten in the Lucas Oil series points.

With Waterville, OH racer Matt Miller's $15,000 win in the Jackson 100 at Brownstown this past Saturday Night there have been 17 different winners in the first 30 events the series has run this year. There have been 557 different drivers participate at least once with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in '07.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will mark the fifth appearance at the David and Anita Ferrell promoted facility located 45 miles southeast of Louisville, KY. Previous winners at Bardstown include; Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL, Rick Eckert of York, PA and the last two years Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN has been victorious in the "Bluegrass Classic"

There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with LifeLong Locks Time Trials, Hawk Brake and Quarter Master Heat Races. The number of heats will be determined by the number of entries. The Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Penske Shocks B-Mains will be held before the 50 lap Seventh Annual "Bluegrass Classic" paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start. Activities for the August 25 racing program will see gates open one hour earlier, with pit gates open at 3:00 and main gates open at 4:00. There will be a drivers autograph session from 5:00 to 5:30, with the drivers meeting at 6:00. Hot laps will get begin around 6:30, with time trials around 7:00, and racing at or before 8:00. All times are EDT. Adult general admission will be $25, children ages 6 to 12 will be $10, children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $35.
