Bluegrass Speedway Hosts O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass 8th Annual Spring Sizzler on April 30

Bardstown, KY-April 24- Bluegrass Speedway, located outside of beautiful and historic Bardstown, KY, will be the backdrop for an invasion this Saturday night, April 30, as the O'Reilly Auto Parts NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts visits the ½ mile Nelson County dirt oval for the 8th Annual Spring Sizzler.

The April 30 8th Annual Spring Sizzler race program will consist of a complete show of time trials, VP Racing Fuels Makin' Power heats, B-mains, and the 30 lap, $3,000 to win 8th Annual Spring Sizzler O'Reilly Auto Parts A-Main featuring the "BoB Late Model Tour 2005". Also on the racing program will be a regular show for the Modified and Sportsman divisions, with the Street Stocks having the night off.

The 8th Annual Spring Sizzler will mark the 12th appearance of the O'Reilly Auto Parts NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts at the ½ mile Bluegrass Speedway. The Spring Sizzler was first contested in 1998 and the inaugural event winner was Mike Hawley of Paint Lick, KY. Terry English of Benton, KY won the 1999 event, while Rick Corbin of Independence, KY scored the 2000 event win. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN has made the Spring Sizzler his own as he has won the last three Spring Sizzler events contested, dating back to 2001, 2003, and 2004, with the 2002 event being a rainout.

Activities for the April 30 season opener will begin one hour earlier than normal. Pit gates will open at 3:00, with main gates opening at 4:00. The driver's meeting will be at 5:00, hot laps at 5:30, time trials at 6:00, with racing set to take the green flag at 7:00. All times are EDT. The Late Model and Modified divisions will have time trials for the evening, while the Sportsman will pill draw for their heat race starting positions.

Adult general admission for this special event will be $15 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 is $8, children under age 6 admitted free with a paid adult, and pit passes will be $30.

Bluegrass Speedway is once again associated with the Contingency Connection program in 2005, with drivers eligible for over $50,000 in posted contingency prizes if they participate in the program and also make themselves eligible for the season ending Mr. Gasket awards program.

The 2005 season opener at Bluegrass Speedway was cancelled to due wet grounds and the unseasonable cool weather this past weekend. Bluegrass Speedway track champions for the 2004 season were Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY in Late Models, Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY in Modifieds, Bo Wilson of Bloomfield, KY in Sportsman, and Johnny Cecil of Loretto, KY in Street Stocks.

Bluegrass Speedway is owned by Charles Hamilton and promoted by David and Anita Ferrell. Racing takes place on Saturday nights from mid-April through the end of September. The track is located at exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway.
