Bluegrass Speedway Hosts 7th Annual Kentuckiana Klash This Saturday, July 9

Bardstown, KY-July 3-Bluegrass Speedway, located outside of beautiful and historic Bardstown, KY, will host the O'Reilly Auto Parts NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts this Saturday night, July 9, for the 7th Annual Kentuckiana Klash.

The event will feature the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Late Models, with a complete program of Racing Optics time trials, VP Racing Fuels Makin' Power heats, B-mains, and the 30 lap, $3,000 to win O'Reilly A-Main 7th Annual Kentuckiana Klash. Also on the racing program will be Modifieds and Sportsman, with Street Stocks having the night off. Along with the Late Models, the Sportsman division will take time trials, while the Modified division will line up their heats via the pill draw.

The Kentuckiana Klash was first contested in 1998 and was won by Audie McWilliams of Union, KY. The event was not held in 1999, but returned in 2000 with the victory going to Jim Curry of Norman, IN. Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY was the 2001 Klash winner, while Scottsburg, IN driver Mike Jewell would go back to back in winning the 2002 and 2003 Kentuckiana Klash races. Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY is the defending 2004 Kentuckiana Klash champ, with the win being his first ever O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass victory.

Activities for this July 9 event will see pit gates will open at 4:00, with main gates opening at 5:00. The driver's meeting will be at 6:00, hot laps at 6:30, time trials at 7:00, with racing set to take the green flag at or before 8:00. All times are EDT. This is a special event. Adult general admission is $15, with children ages 6 to 12 being $8, children under age 6 are free, and pit passes will be $30.

Bluegrass Speedway is once again associated with the Contingency Connection program in 2005, with drivers eligible for over $50,000 in posted contingency prizes if they participate in the program and also make themselves eligible for the season ending Mr. Gasket awards program. Also an added incentive, drivers can now be eligible for the JE Pro Seal Rings Sportsman of the Year program. Contingency Connection winners from July 2 included Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY, Sam Huffer of Elizabethtown, KY, and Brad Mattingly of Lebanon, KY.

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on July 2 and winners for that evening included Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Late Models, Mike Watson of Campbellsville, KY in Modifieds, Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY in Sportsman, and Avral Thompson of Loretto, KY in Street Stocks.

Current track championship division point leader are Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY in Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Modifieds, Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY in Sportsman, and Willie Edelen of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.

Bluegrass Speedway is owned by Charles Hamilton and promoted by David and Anita Ferrell. Racing takes place on Saturday nights from mid-April through the end of September. The track is located at exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway.
