Bardstown, KY-May 12- Track promoters David and Anita Ferrell are set to present the 1st Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout on Saturday night, May 17. The Northern All-Star Late Model Racing Series (NALMS) will sanction the event that will be 50 laps and pay the winner $5,000 for their efforts. Bluegrass Speedway Sportsman and Street Stocks, along with the Southern Indiana based Pro-Truck Racing Association are providing support division action. The Modifieds will have the night off and the track will not be awarding track points to the Late Model class at this event.

This will be the first of two visits by the Indiana based NALMS group at Bluegrass Speedway in 2003, as Bob Pierce and Darrell Lanigan were NALMS winners at Bluegrass in 2002. The lead trio in NALMS points of John Whitney, Steve Barnett, and Steve Hillard are expected to be in attendance, along with several more of the top racers in the area, as many drivers are using the big races at Bluegrass Speedway this season to get lap time for the Dirt Track World Championship coming up at the ½ mile facility on October 18 and 19. Current track points leader and last week’s Late Model winner Brad Neat will lead the always tough group of Bluegrass Speedway regulars as they attempt to protect the home turf and keep the money and glory from the out of town gunslingers. The NALMS series has went to a group qualifying format in 2003 that has made for some great racing at their events so far in 2003 for the group that is now associated with the Renegades DirtCar Series group based out of Apple Creek, OH. Also, all entries must be equipped with functioning mufflers. The Late Model tire rules for this event are Hoosier Tires only, with any compound 11x92 Hoosier on the front, while the rear will require either the LM40 or D55 compound Hoosier only.

Bluegrass Speedway raced last Saturday night on May 10 and winners included Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Late Models, Earl Plessinger of Seymour, IN in Modifieds, Johnny Lee of Loretto, KY in Sportsman, and Dan Bryan of Bloomfield, KY in Street Stocks.

Current track point leaders are Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Late Models, Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY in Modifieds, Johnny Lee of Raywick, KY in Sportsman, and Dan Bryan of Bloomfield, KY in Street Stocks.

Activities will get underway on May 17 as pit gates will open at 4:00, with main gates opening at 5:00. Hot laps will begin at 6:30, time trials go around 7:00, with racing set to take the green flag at 8:00. This is a special event with adult general admission $20, children age 6-12 are $10, children under age 6 are free with a paid adult, while pit passes are $35 for this special event. Also, in the event of a rainout on May 17, the event does have a raindate and that will be on Sunday afternoon, May 18.
