(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer Racing took a week off from points racing last weekend, as the #15b team took off east for a pair of World of Outlaw Late Model Series events. Brian won his heat race and won the dash to earn the pole position for the $10,000 to win show in front of a great crowd at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA on Friday night. The Daufeldt Transport / J&J Steel / Simon’s Trucking #15b MasterSbilt Monte Carlo took the lead at the point and led the first thirty-one laps of the fifty lapper. A great battle would ensue for the final nineteen laps of the event and Brian would eventually finish a strong fourth.

“It was a good run for us at Lernerville,” said Brian from his shop on Monday afternoon. “We went a little softer than most of the guys out there and I think that ended up hurting us at the end. Plus, we got hung up in lapped traffic a little bit and McDowell, Francis, and (eventual winner Chub) Frank wound up catching us. It felt good to run up front all night since (crew chief) Brian Daugherty is from the area. I think we put on a great show for the fans and there were a lot of them in the stands at Lernerville.”

Brian traveled to the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD the following night for the second night of WoO racing. Brian again captured his heat race, but tried some experimental things in the dash and finished fourth. The #15b was around the Top Five the entire 50-laps and ended up finishing in the fifth position in the $10,000 to win show.

“We ended up trying a few things at Hagerstown and we weren’t bad, but (Rick) Eckert and (Steve) Francis were the class of the field. I feel like we are making progress with our program and starting to find a rhythm that I hope will only get better as we get into the summer months. We are running a couple of different suspensions and have been pretty successful with all of them.”

Brian will go back to point racing this Friday night, as the Stacker 2 Xtreme Dirtcar Series will be at the Auto Tire & Parts Racepark in Benton, MO for a $10,000 to win feature event. Brian is currently third in the XDCS point standings after only five events. You can learn more about the event at the Benton, MO track this Friday night by visiting www.xtremedirtcars.com.

Brian will also be in competition the following night at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL for a $4,000 to win season opener. The track is an Xtreme Dirtcar Weekly Racing Series track and also holds a date for the Stacker 2 Xtreme Dirtcar Series later on in the year. Brian will be using this race as a good test session for later on in the year when the #15b team returns to the fast, racy bullring.
