Taking the lead on lap nine, Brian Brown drove Tim and Gina Doogs’ Maxim to victory at Lake Ozark Speedway Saturday night in O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior action.
Kent Buckley led early on followed by outside front row starter Rusty Potter.
On lap two, Dustin Barks was able to move by Potter along with seventh-starting Jon Corbin. That same lap, the yellow flag was thrown for a tangle involving Robert Black, Rex Combs, and Eric Schrock. All three drivers would be able to continue. Also during the yellow, sixth-running Jason Evans would go pitside with problems along with Frank Brown, who experienced problems as well.
On the lap two restart, Buckley again jumped into the lead followed by Potter.
Brown, who restarted fifth, was able to get by Barks and Corbin for third. By lap three, he was pressuring Potter for the runner-up spot along with Corbin. On lap four the duo was able to get by Potter and set their sights on Buckley.
Lap by lap, Brown would get a little closer to Buckley and on lap nine he was able to get by Buckley as the pair went by the flagstand.
Corbin’s third place run would come to an end on lap fifteen when he pulled to the infield with motor problems ending a fine run in his Rick Smith owned car.
Over the final five laps, Brown would extend his lead as he was able to negotiate lapped traffic and get some distance between himself and the rest of the field. Buckley would hold on to second, but would later be disqualified when it was found he was running illegal injectors. The disqualification handed second to Dustin Barks, who matched his career-best WOW finish in the Clearwater Store/DSL Computer Systems Maxim. Running third was Potter in the Roy Cary Livestock/Potter Trucking Maxim. Jeff Stanley had another solid run to finish fourth in his own Maxim and rounding out the top five was Randy Martin in the Diamond Pet Foods Maxim. Ryan Marsch had a nice run to finish sixth followed by Curtis Boyer in seventh. Toby Brown charged from his twentieth starting spot to eighth earning the Weld Wheels Hard Charger of the race, followed by Lanny Carpenter and Matt Fox, who rounded out the top ten.
The Winged Outlaw Warriors will be back in action tonight at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia for the annual Missouri State Fair race.
