DOE RUN, MO--(June 28, 2005) Shannon Burch picked up his second straight feature win in the Mini Stock Division this past Friday night at the Doe Run Raceway. After carrying the checkered flag for the traditional victory lap, Burch stepped out of his #8 Burch Fence sponsored car and after getting his picture taken, treated the fans at the raceway to his version of the "King Daddy Chicken Dance."

Marty Boyer finished second in the feature event, Brian McGee third, Dave Wofford fourth and CJ Wright fifth. Boyer won the heat race, Burch second and McGee third.

Bill Beard earned his first feature win of 2005 in the dwarf car feature event. Beard, who had not won a feature event since racing a late model several years ago, was joined in the celebration on the front straight by his father, Kenny Beard and son Billy Joe Beard (driver of the #28 dwarf car). Rounding out the top five were Vince Conway, Dave Huffman, Glenn Province and Chris Hayes.

Conway won the first heat, Province second and Neil Hovis third. Bill Beard won the second heat, Huffman second and Billy Craig third.

Braydon Wright went two for two in the Stock Kart class, winning both his heat race and the feature event. Jesse Wright finished second to his older brother in both races while Scottie Gretzmacher earned two third place finishes.

The final event of the evening was the much anticipated 600cc non winged multi feature. As the green flag dropped and the field moved toward turn one, the front of the field checked up, causing a chain reaction pile-up that, when finished sent almost half of the starting line up to the pit area with damage of some sort. At the restart, Joey Boyd jumped out in front and led wire to wire to earn his first non winged victory of the season. Junior Ferguson finished second, Eric Ziegler third, Zack Daum fourth and Mark Shirshekan fifth.

Andy Malpocker won the first heat, Jimmy Bridgeman second and Boyd third. Jeff Wurst won the second heat, Matt Dotson second and Ziegler third.

Racing will resume this Friday, July 1st with the 600 cc winged multi, mini stock, dwarf and stock kart classes participating.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, visit the track's website at www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
