Mark Burgtorf, Jason Perry, Michael Long, Terry Houston and Jake Powers all scored feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, August 23 during Best Buy Store of Quincy Night at the Races.

With Jason Feger drawing the pole position for the forty lap Monster Midwest Series UMP Late Model main event it was a forgone conclusion that the check should have already been made out before the event even began as Feger has been on a terror as of late winning his last two events on Friday and Saturday but as they say, “it over until the fat lady sings”. Feger jumped to the lead on the first lap but Ryan Unzicker used the bottom line to pull even with Feger exiting turn two on the second lap and held on for the top spot through lap nine. Fourteen time Quincy Raceways Late Model Track Champion, Mark Burgtorf started outside the second row and worked his way into the second spot on lap six and set his sights on Unzicker and the lead. Burgtorf blasted into the lead on the tenth lap leaving Unzicker, Feger and Dennis Erb to battle for the second spot. Feger grabbed the second spot from Unzicker on the thirty second lap and closed to within 2.8 seconds as the checkered flag fell holding off Erb in third, Unzicker in fourth and Jason Frankel in fifth. Donny Walden set fast time in qualifications with a lap of 13.651 for a speed of 76.478 mph. Matt Bailey, Jason Feger and Dennis Erb were the heat race winners with Ed Dixon grabbing the checkered flag in the B-Main.

Vance Wilson had the outside row one starting spot for the thirty lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event and he used it to take the lead at the drop of the green flag with Jason Perry being scored in the second position at the end of the first lap. Perry put the pressure on Wilson and managed to grab the lead on the fourth lap and held off Wilson and Matt Bailey until Justin Reed clawed his way into the second spot on lap twenty seven. Reed tried in vain to run Perry down for the top spot but had to settle for second, .188 of a second behind as Perry took his first ever feature event win. Wilson held on for third followed by Jason Frankel in fourth and Mark Burgtorf in fifth. Frankel, Perry and Denny Woodworth all took heat race wins. Lonnie Bailey now holds a 584 to 576 point advantage over Justin Reed with only points race left, the Season Championship next week.

Michael Long took the big $3000 payday in the last Miller Lite Ump Modified main event as he drew the pole position for that feature race but Long had to start this week’s feature event from outside the fourth row but it didn’t make any difference this week. Jared Schlipman used his pole position starting spot to pull into the early lead of the twenty five lap main event and held onto the top spot for the first nineteen circuits. Long patiently worked his way through the leaders to get past Schlipman on the twentieth lap to take the lead. Long then pulled out to a 2.428 second advantage over Schlipman as the checkered flag fell. Steven DeLonjay scored the third spot followed by Donovan Lodge in fourth and Tony Dunker in the fifth spot. Ryan Meyer, Long and Shawn Deering took the heat race wins with Jamie Wilson taking the checkered flag in the b-main. Justin Reed now has a 1063 to 1006 point advantage over Steven DeLonjay for the first ever UMP Miller Lite Modified Track Championship.

Terry Houston took the lead of the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car feature event from Doug Huls on the fourth lap and held Huls at bay until the checkered flag fell by a little over a second on the twentieth lap. The third spot went to Aaron Brocksieck with Steve Steinkuhler in fourth and Abe Huls in fifth. Houston and Michael Larsen were the heat race winners. Kevin Tomlinson holds a five point margin over Abe Huls in the points race to the Track Championship, 575 to 570 points.

Rookie Tanner Klingele looked like he was on his way to his second feature win of his first season in a Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock but a flat tire brought that idea to a halt. Jake Powers took over the lead from that point and held off Jim Powell over the last four circuits to claim his first points feature win of his rookie season. Steve Carlin scored the third spot with Nathan Hayes in fourth and Mike Wiley in fifth. Steve Carlin and Jake Powers were the heat race winners. Carlin and Powell went into the nights events tied for the points championship lead but with Carlin scoring a heat race win and three points and Powell crashing out of his heat race, Carlin now goes into the final night of points racing with a slim two point advantage.

Coming up next at Quincy Raceways will be the TnT Action Sports Harley Davidson Season Championship Night at the Races on Sunday, August 30. The final night of points racing will have the Pit Gates opening at 4, Grandstands at 5, Drivers Meeting and Registration ending at 5:45, Hot Laps at 6 and Racing at 6:30pm.
