Join us for the Madison County Fair Car Demolition Derby on Friday, July 27th! It is always a fun night watching the cars battle it out, crashing and bashing! Come out and see who comes out on top for 2012! Grandstands open at 6pm, Demo starts at 7:00pm. Box Seats are $15.00, General Admission is $12.00, kids 10 and under are free.

No one under 16 years of age allowed in the pits.
Minors 16-18 years of age must have a release waiver completed by both parents/guardians before entering pits. Release waiver can be obtained in Fair Office before event during office hours.

There will be no refunds if your car does not pass inspection or driver is unwilling to change car to pass inspection!! All rules will be followed or you will not run! If it does not say it in the rules ~
DON’T JUST ASSUME YOU CAN DO IT! CALL FIRST!

THE MADISON COUNTY FAIR BOARD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT!

GENERAL DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
The following rules apply for all classes with
additional rules for each class:

1. Cars must be in gate by 6:30 pm. Any car entering the gate after 6:30 pm will be charged a late fee. Drivers must attend the driver’s meeting at 6:55.
2. ANY SEDAN, HARDTOP OR STATION WAGON
FORD OR CHRYSLER - 1980 OR NEWER
GM CARS - 1978 OR NEWER
**NO convertibles, Chrysler Imperials, Checker cabs, specialty cars, Fieros, Corvettes or fiberglass bodies, or trucks will be allowed.
3. No profanity, abusive language, obscene pictures or drawings will be allowed on the vehicles.
4. All cars MUST have car number exhibited on both front doors and on upright number plate on the roof of the car (minimum of 15 inches by 15 inches). Car numbers are registered on a first come, first serve basis. No pre-registered numbers are allowed.
5. All drivers must be legally licensed drivers and, if asked, must show a positive ID.
6. Any driver under 18 years of age must obtain a Minor Release form. This form must be filled out and notarized.
7. No person under 16 years of age will be allowed in the pit area.
8. All drivers must attend pit meeting prior to race time.
9. If a driver does not hit another car within 2 minutes, the driver will receive an X on his door. After the 2nd warning, the driver will be disqualified. TWO FIRES - YOU ARE OUT. IF IT IS A FUEL FIRE.....THEN ONE FIRE AND YOU ARE OUT!
10. No hitting opponent’s car in the driver’s door. This will not be permitted and will be grounds for disqualification.
11. Remain in car during race event unless advised by officials to leave your car for safety reasons.
12. Seat belts and crash helmets are mandatory and must be worn during the event.
13. All cars will be inspected upon entering the pits. At this time, hood and truck must be open for inspection. If a car does not meet qualifications or is found unsafe, the car will not be entered in the derby.
14. A final inspection of Feature Winners will be made following the derby. Failure to submit to inspection or being found illegal will result in moneys earned being distributed among other winners.
15. All persons entering the pit area must sign an entry form, release form and insurance waiver and purchase a pit pass before entering.
16. No car may run in the final event unless qualified from heats.
17. Any car remaining after 12 noon the following day will become the property of the Madison County Fair Association.
18. Consumption of alcoholic beverages will not be allowed in the pit area. VIOLATORS WILL BE ARRESTED AND REMOVED FROM THE FAIRGROUNDS BY POLICE.
19. ANY DRIVER OR CREW MEMBER DISOBEYING THE RULES WILL CAUSE HIS OR HER CAR TO BE DISQUALIFIED. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THEIR CREW.

FUEL SYSTEM: There will be no pressurized fuel tanks allowed. No more than 5 gallons of gas in tank. Fuel cell or Marine boat tank is MANDATORY. All tanks must be secure and meet safety inspection. Original tanks will not be allowed anymore.
BATTERY: Battery must be relocated and securely fastened to passenger side floorboard and covered with explosion proof shield. One battery per car. No tarp straps or bungee cords.
GLASS AND TRIM: All glass, plastic, chrome, mirrors, fiberglass, metal reflectors, or any loose metal must be removed. Windshield is optional.
COOLING: Radiator or fan may be removed, but not relocated. Any type of automotive radiator may be used but must be mounted in stock position. No radiator cooler inside of car. No reserve or overflow tanks permitted. No antifreeze allowed.
STOCK DEMO RULES
1. All cars will be limited to 1980 or newer (Ford/Chrysler)
1978 or newer for GM models.
2. Engine motors must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler, etc. Must be mounted in stock position on v-blocks engines front spark plug must be even or in front of upper ball joints. On inline engines, #2 spark plug must be even or in front of upper ball joints. Motor mounts may be welded. Engines must have air breather. No header pipes allowed.
3. No transmission coolers allowed.
4. Suspension must remain stock.
5. Rear ends must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler, etc. Locking of rear ends is permitted. You cannot replace the original rear end with an old style.
6. Drive shafts must be OEM stock - no PTO shafts.
7. Trailing arms and A-arms must be factory originals. No reinforcing, shortening or lengthening.
8. The steering column and gear box must remain factory original.
9. HOOD and TRUNK - must remain in factory position. Can only be wired or chained shut. No tucking of trunk lid is allowed. Hood must have 2 holes by the carburetor.
10. BODY, FENDERS and FRAMES - No seam welding. No patching. Pre-denting is allowed. No trimming of fenders. No reinforcing of the frame. Notching of rear frame is allowed.
11. BODY MOUNTS - all body mounts must be factory originals.
12. DOORS - doors cannot be welded shut. Doors can only be wired or chained closed.
13. CAGE - You may have a cage with two side bars and two cross bars. The cage cannot extend past the dash area in the front and cannot extend past the front of the rear doors.
14. BUMPERS - Must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler, etc. No truck bumpers allowed. Bumpers may we welded to the shock bumpers and then welded to the frame. The top of the bumper may not be more than 25 inches from the ground.
15. SHIFTER - may be relocated to the floor
16. TIRES - all tires must be car type or C rated tires on stock rims only. MUD TIRES ARE ALLOWED AND RECOMMENDED.
THIS IS A STOCK CLASS. IT WILL REMAIN A STOCK CLASS SO DO NOT DO ANY MORE THAN WHAT IS STATED IN THESE RULES. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO MAKE YOUR CAR ILLEGAL AFTER INSPECTION. IF THIS HAPPENS, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND YOUR ENTRY FEE WILL NOT BE RETURNED. OFFICIALS HAVE THE RIGHT TO RE-INSPECT YOUR CAR AT ANY TIME.
MODIFIED DEMO RULES

1. All cars will be limited to 1980 or newer (Ford/Chrysler)
1978 or newer for GM models.
2. ENGINES, TRANSMISSIONS and REAR ENDS -
*any engine or transmission may be used in any car, but MUST be mounted in a stock position. On a V-block motor, front spark plugs MUST be even or in front of upper ball joint. On in-line motors, #2 spark plug MUST be even or in front of upper ball joint.
*engine cooling system MUST be drained and free of antifreeze.
*chained, welded or homemade motor mounts will be permitted
*any type of header is allowed, but MUST be directed away from driver compartment
*transmission oil coolers permitted
*any automobile rear end can be used in any car - NO TRUCK OR FLOATER REAR ENDS will be allowed. This rule does not mean you can transform a coil spring to leaf spring or vise versa. On models originally equipped with leaf springs, stock leaf springs and hangers MUST be used. On models originally equipped with coil springs, stock springs or trailing arms MUST be used. An OEM trailing arm must be used but may be altered or reinforced in any manner. Rear end braces are allowed BUT may serve no purpose other than to strengthen the rear end housing
*any drive shaft or U joint may be used
*chain or cable may be installed cross ways between rear frame rails behind rear end
*no caging over engine will be allowed. Distributor protector allowed but must be attached to motor only
*any engine with an electric fuel pump must have a fuel cut off switch within easy reach of driver or rider
*distributor protector cannot be in contact with cage at any time
3. FENDERS and BUMPERS
*fenders and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel clearance
*bumpers may be welded, but may not exceed 25 inches from the top of the bumper to the ground
4. DOORS, HOOD and TRUNK
*front and rear doors may be welded, chained and/or wired. Straps should be no larger than 1/4 inch thick or 4 inches wide.
*a 4 post cage will be allowed for bracing front doors only. On the 4 post cage, a 4 inch outside diameter pipe or box iron may be used across the dash and may not go past the inside door braces. No kickers will be allowed. Only 4 down tubes will be allowed. 2 down tubes on the back of the cage to the flat part of the frame. Halo bar must be attached to the top of the cage only. The cage cannot extend to the rear humps. The 2 front tubes must stay a minimum of 6 inches behind Z box on Fords and Chryslers and 6 inches behind front arches on GM’s.
The cage mounting may not have any bolts or metal protruding outside of car and no bracing, reinforcing or fastening will be allowed outside of post cage zone. Front door braces and side braces may be connected but may not brace to the frame or roof. They must be connected to the inner door skins and/or internal posts only.
*hoods must have 2 holes cut in them for fire extinguishers. These holes cannot be over the carburetor.
*if you use a hood, you can use up to 4 all thread (no larger than 3/4). Washers cannot be bigger than 6 inch outside diameter. Only 2 washers allowed to go through the frame and must be even with or by the frame. Washers must be even with or behind the radiator. A maximum of 50 bolts 3/8 inch or smaller are allowed to bolt together hood seams.
*NO WELDING HOODS
*If hood is removed, either fan blades must be removed or fan belt must be cut.
*Station wagon roofs may be cut or pre-bent but cannot be bolted to floor.
*on the trunk, you may weld the seam and use 4 all thread (no larger than 3/4). Washers cannot be bigger than 6 inch outside diameter. Only 2 washers allowed to go through the frame
*a window safety bar MUST be installed. The bar should be attached in the center of the windshield from the roof down to the dash area. Rear window bars are not allowed.
5. FRAME
*1980 and newer Fords - you may not replace the aluminum engine cradle with any other cradle.
*all suspension and frame parts will remain stock (tie rods, springs, A-arms, etc.).
*no other frame welding is allowed. No plating, stuffing, heat treating or foam filling of frames is allowed. Do NOT paint undercoat, oil or grease your frames or you will not even be inspected. NO BAND-AIDS ALLOWED
*all factory holes must be open for inspection of frame
*no reinforcing front core supports or body mount holes
*no tightening of torsion bars
*welding on frames will be allowed from the A-arm forward. TOP SEAM ONLY!
*body mounts may be removed, but body must not be welded anywhere to the frame
6. TIRES and WHEELS
*only 16 inch or smaller wheels allowed.
*no truck wheels or reinforcing of wheels allowed
*studs or screws in rims to hold tires in place will be allowed
*tires may be liquid or foam filled - NO SOLID FILLER
*no cut tires or paddle tires allowed
*no tire studs allowed
*no split rims will be allowed
