RICHMOND, IN (November 1, 2008) - Steve competed in Calvert City, KY over the weekend for two separate nights of racing and finished out the season with a win. Steve qualified well and was supposed to start on the front row outside of his heat race, but a mistaken trip back to the trailer instead of the scales relegated Steve to an 11th place starting position in heat 2.

Steve charged to the front of the heat race and passed all ten cars in front of him to take the heat win and earn an outside front row starting spot for the main event. "As soon as I got to the trailer I realized what I had done and I immediately raced back to the scales but they went ahead and disqualified me", said Steve. "I almost loaded the car up and went home, but after looking at the track and seeing how many racing grooves there were we decided to stay and see if we could win it from the back".

The feature saw Casebolt Racing lead every lap, virtually unchallenged where Steve used the extreme high line to win the main event. Friday night's racing action wasn't quite so rewarding to the team. Steve advanced from his 9th place starting position to challenge for the runner up spot, but a late race restart saw Steve get tangled up in wreck and the team was eliminated from competition.

After 9 months of racing action throughout the US Steve Casebolt Racing brought their Dixie Chopper sponsored Rocket Chassis home with a very respectable third place points finish. The series saw over 600 competitors compete throughout the year and Steve was able to have strong runs in several different states this season.

In 50 races (point and non-point races) Steve scored 1 win, 12 top five finishes and 23 top tens. This was Steve's first year back in his self-owned car, which saw some big improvements over the last year funding his own team. Although the team didn't accomplish their goal of winning the Lucas Oil Championship they challenged for the point lead and stood atop the points standings on a number of occasions this year.

Going into the final point race at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA Steve was just 70 points behind Bart Hartman who would eventually finish 2nd in the championship. Had Steve finished just a few spots ahead of Hartman this would have secured 2nd place in the point standings. At the end of the night Hartman had a strong run and finished 2nd and Steve finished in the 7th position.

"We feel like we have learned a lot this season and we have something to build on now". "Next year shouldn't be as tough on us financially since we already have everything it takes to run the series full time in place", stated Steve. "Although we wanted to win the championship we feel like we had a successful season in finishing 3rd. Last year we had kind of the same thing happen by leading the standings early in the season and eventually fading to a third place finish so at least we duplicated our last year's efforts."

Steve's current plans are to begin his 2009 season in Tampa, FL at Eastbay Raceway and once again bid for the Lucas Oil Championship. For more information on Steve Casebolt and his race team be sure to check out their website at www.stevecasebolt.com.
