(Warrensburg, MO) The annual C.A.R.B. night at Warrensburg's own Central Missouri Speedway takes place this Saturday night, August 8th. According to the C.A.R.B. Web site at www.kccarb.com, "For the C.A.R.B. member race car drivers the following C.A.R.B. Night benefits apply: Drivers making the A feature and finishing in the Top 25 will receive $15.00. Before the features begin there will be an opportunity for drivers to become C.A.R.B. members by signing up that night. C.A.R.B. membership is only $10 and [drivers] are guaranteed $15 for making the feature. Additionally, the Larry Kaster Driver Appreciation Awards will be presented at intermission to some lucky racer out of the heat races in each class." In addition, C.A.R.B. members may renew their membership and prospective new members may join the organization right at the track this weekend. Current C.A.R.B. members will receive grandstand admission for presenting their membership card at the admission gates. The Central Auto Racing Boosters started in 1952 and was formed to promote interest in and understanding of the sport of auto racing in the Kansas City area.

Another one of the track's most exciting evenings is also fast-approaching. Kid's Night takes place on Saturday night August 15th. Every year CMS hosts this great event for its young race fans and it has taken on its own identity each year it has taken place. Boys and girls will compete in foot races on the front side of the speedway different competing divisions. Each division winner will go home with special prizes and every child 12 and under in attendance will receive a goodie bag full of racing-related items such as small school supply items, candy, driver hero cards, small toys, and toothbrushes. Kids Night would not be possible without all the great donations from the drivers and race fans and we still need your help to make this event a success. All donations may be delivered to the track at the Pitside admission area.

Hot August nights are on tap for CMS race fans and drivers with excitement brewing in each division as the season winds down. Counting this weekend, there are just six weeks left in the championship season. Street Stock and B-Modified competitors will earn track points on all six of those nights with Modified and ULMA Late Model drivers earning track points on five of the six remaining nights. The annual Labor Day weekend special for Modifieds and ULMA Late Models is not a track points-earning event for the two divisions for the Labor Day weekend. The special takes place on Friday, September 4th (Modifieds/ULMA) and Saturday, September 5th (Modifieds/Street Stocks/B-Modifieds). The final special of the year pays a whopping $3,000 to the modified winner and $1,500 to the ULMA winner, the largest-ever first-place winnings ever offered to ULMA drivers. Advanced driver entries and special discounted admission tickets for the fans go on sale August 15th and will remain on sale for three weeks. Modified drivers can save $50 on their early entry; ULMA Late Model drivers will save $25 on their entry if paid by August 29th, the cutoff date for pre-entries and advanced ticket sales. Same night entries in all divisions are available for the final special of the year.

Aaron Marrant padded his championship lead last weekend with his second main-event win of the year in the modified division. So far, nine different winners have visited victory lane in the modifieds. Last week, Jon Binning became the first ULMA Late Model driver to claim a repeat win. In eleven late model features this year, an amazing ten different drivers have raced their way to victory lane. Chad Eickleberry returned to the winner's circle for the third time this year during last Saturday's street stock main event in an exciting four-car battle at the front. The hottest driver in the Greater Kansas City area this year is not an "A" Mod driver, a late model driver, or a sprint car driver. The driver with the most wins this year is Brad Smith in his B-Modified. The Belton, Missouri driver claimed his seventh feature win last weekend at CMS and has numerous other area track wins. Come out this Saturday to see if anyone can dethrone Smith and claim the B-Modified win.

Pit gates open at 4:30, admission gates swing open at 5, the drivers' meeting starts at 6:30, hot laps begin at 7, and racing begins at 7:30. General admission for adults is $10, Seniors 65 and up, Military and College Students w/I.D. pay just $8, kids ages 6 to 12 are admitted for $6 and children 5 and under are free. Race fans permanently confined to wheelchairs get in absolutely free at CMS every week! The track is located 3.5-miles north of Warrensburg, MO from the junction of Highways 50 and 13 in Warrensburg or from the Higginsville exit off of I-70, travel south on Highway 13 for approximately 14 miles.
