CENTRAL MISSOURI SPEEDWAY'S NEW WEEKLY MODIFIED PURSE WITH $1000 TO WIN THE HIGHEST IN THE NATION!

10 Year Track Owner and Promoter Earl Walls Made the Announcement This Week!

It was announced a month ago that Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg would change their "Mighty Modified" purse structure for the 2004 racing season to $1000.00 to win with $100 step-downs throughout the purse. Now Earl Walls, owner and track director for 10 consecutive years, has announced that it won't happen.

"We're not going to raise the modified purse starting next year," Walls announced Monday. "We're going to start it right now! We're half -way through our current season at this time and it's definitely the best ever. We have great fan and driver support and we owe it to them to give them the support back they deserve. "

"The Bud Racing/Central Auto Racing Booster Modified $1K Special #2" this Saturday night is the best place to start the upswing in the purse," Walls further explains. "And the weekly purse will stay right there every Saturday night at CMS for the rest of this season and into next year."

With research into all tracks that run "I.M.C.A. Type Modifieds" in this country, none were found that pay near the weekly purse fare.

"This hasn't been a good season so far for me, but it also hasn't been the worst," 26 year, mod driver Tom 'rooster' Charles from Bonner Springs, Ks states. "I'm just a click away from getting the car working the way I want it to, so this raise in the purse really will be a boon for me. I haven't had a win at CMS yet this year, but even with that I've still come away from CMS happy and satisfied. Now, if I get this car dialed in, I can pick up on even more dollars for the year. CMS has really helped me to be 'stayin' in the money' and keep my racing campaign going."

"You know, Earl (Walls) is the kind of guy who runs his track the way he personally feels about things. It's his own feelings. The way he's treated us has always been fair and he is an independent operator. And that definitely seems to work the best," Charles added. "Some people might think he's raising the purse to attract cars from other venues, but that really isn't the case. We can tell he's doing it for us, the competitors and fans. And that feels good."

Along with that announcement, Walls also added, "With the three, separate holiday 'Big Ones' every year, we've decided to up the July 4th holiday "Bar B Que Bowl" into a 'super-special'. In 2004, it will pay three thousand dollars for first in that one special and the purse behind the win amount will also be substantially higher. It'll put us way over the current $22,000.00-plus purse total for that date."

The 2004, CMS "Bar B Que Bowl" will run on Saturday night, July 3rd, with it's standard next-day-Sunday rain date policy. There will be a change in that event that will differ as to who will run for the big pot of gold in the 'Bowl'.

"To run in the 'Bar B Que Bowl' next year there will be no entry fee at all," Walls details. "But, it will be open only to those drivers who have run here at CMS a minimum of four times in next season's schedule before July 3rd."

Why the 'bowl' name, for seven years, for that particular event? For many years Earl raced his midget class race cars at the famous, yearly "Chili Bowl' in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was his favorite place to run. The thought of the 'Bowl', pertaining here to Bar B Que, helped certify that the event is just as special; but for the "Mighty Modifieds".

The complete, weekly pay-off for the "Mighty Modifieds", for not only this Saturday night but the rest of this season as well, is set as follows:

1st-$1,000, 2nd-$900, 3rd-$800, 4th-$700, 5th-$600, 6th-$500, 7th-$450, 8th-$400, 9th-$350, 10th-$300, 11th-$250, 12th- $200, 13th-$150 and $100 minimum to run in the 24 car feature event.
