Central Missouri Speedway recently registered 50 drivers for its upcoming season, which kicks off in April with three practice sessions and opening night on Saturday, April 28th. There are 20 nights of racing scheduled for 2007. According to track statistician, Glyda Jaeger, this year’s pre-registered drivers ranged in age groups from teenager to drivers in their late sixties; Jaeger also stated, “Normally only around 30 drivers pre-register at the annual rules review and registration meeting.” If the pre-registered driver numbers are any indication of the track’s success for coming season then it is going to be an exciting year at CMS! In the B-modified division alone there were 18 drivers who registered to compete. Drivers wishing to pre-register but who were unable to attend last weekend’s meeting can request the forms by e-mailing Susan Walls at cswalls1338@sbcglobal.net; the cost of registration is $60. Drivers wishing to check on car number availability can reference the track’s driver registration page on its Website and e-mail requests for registration information from that area of the Website.

Earl and Susan Walls recently announced that CMS will soon have its own weekly online radio show, which will be heard via RacinBoys.com on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m.; the first air date is to be determined. In other exciting news, CMS and Grain Valley Speedway have set an unprecedented level of cooperation and have agreed upon the same competition rules for their respective divisions in 2007! This means fewer headaches for racing teams when they wish to compete at both tracks. The decision by the Walls at CMS and the Evinger’s at Valley Speedway to cooperate on the competition rules has received rave reviews throughout the racing community. Also, CMS and Valley have agreed to run their late model class under the newly formed United Late Model Association (ULMA) rules package. This exciting new association was formed by area late model drivers and is managed as a member regulated and operated entity. CMS is looking forward to an exciting season with ULMA and its members!

Fans looking to save some money on their grandstand admission prices can still order season passes. The price for a normal admission season pass is $180, a total savings of $60! For senior citizens, the cost of their season pass will be a mere $100. All interested parties may call Susan Walls at the number listed at the end of this press release. This year’s general admission grandstand price will decrease to $10 with special event admission price of $15. Already scheduled special events this year (more to be announced) include two SMRS Midget races on June 2nd and August 4th respectively as well as three modified specials. Be sure to check back with the track’s Website for scheduled events. Younger race fans can look forward to Junior Fan Club again this year with the opportunity to win prizes and be eligible for special drawings. If you’re looking for part-time employment this spring and summer there are a few job openings at the track. Both track official positions and concession stand workers are needed. Call Susan Walls at the below-listed number for more information.
