Drivers to Take Collections for Injured Driver Kevin Sloan during Intermission

By Sam Stoecklin, Track Announcer
Warrensburg, MO
July 4, 2007

This weekend’s race sponsor at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) will be Heartland Waste; it will also be C.A.R.B. night at the track. C.A.R.B. stands for Central Auto Racing Boosters and is a fan-supported racing organization in the greater Kansas City area that was created to promote interest in and understanding of the sport of auto racing. The club is now in its 55th year of existence! One of the main focuses of C.A.R.B. is to take care of both fans and drivers. Specially selected drivers in each racing division will receive awards from C.A.R.B. during intermission time and C.A.R.B. members will receive free grandstand admission at the track by simply showing their current membership card. Potential blood donors are asked to support the racing community and others by donating blood in C.A.R.B.’s name by utilizing the code, ZO.

During last week’s competition, modified driver Kevin Sloan was injured in a crash off of the turn four area and continues to recover at Kansas City Research Hospital, where he was transported to after the incident. This weekend the CMS drivers on hand will come to the grandstands on each side of the speedway and in the pit areas to take collections in their helmets for Kevin, a driver who has a loyal following of friends and fans at the track. At press time Sloan was still in ICU and has a long road to recovery ahead; he has been alert and communicating with family and friends during the past week. Well wishes may be sent to Kevin Sloan c/o Buz/Becky Kaster, 3133 N. 51st St, Kansas City, KS 66104. Everyone at CMS wishes Kevin a speedy recovery and extends our well wishes to Kevin, his family, friends and loved ones during their time of need. We know our CMS drivers will do all they can to help out a fellow driver and we especially know the outstanding fans in the stands will also do the same this Saturday night.

All four racing divisions will be back in action this weekend for a complete four-class program with the mighty modifieds, the ULMA Late models, Street Stocks and B-modifieds competing in qualifying heat races and main events throughout the evening. General admission is just 10 dollars with seniors over 65 only 5 dollars. Students and military with ID are just 8 dollars, kids 6 to 12 five dollars and children 5 and under are free. Pit passes will be 20 dollars. For current and up-to-the-minute racing information check back with the track report line or visit us online at www.centralmissourispeedway.net. The Track Report Line is also another way to stay current on activities going on at CMS and can be reached by dialing (660) 747-2166. The track is easy to find and is located just off of Hwy 13 three and a half miles north of Warrensburg from the intersection of Highways 13 and 50 or thirteen miles south of the Interstate 70 exit at Higginsville just off of Hwy 13. Admission and Pit Gates open at 5, hotlaps start and 7 with the first green flag flying at 7:30. We hope to see all of you this Saturday night at the Burg!
