Weekly race action returns to the Historic Half Mile at Missouri State Fair Speedway this Friday night, May 14 in the track’s three premiere divisions, including the Rick Ball Ford 360 Sprint Cars, Subway Late Models, and W-K Chevrolet Modifieds. Friday marks night number three on the road to the championship crowns at the speedway and promoters Jason Bodenhamer and Reid Millard are once again ready to welcome drivers and fans to the speedway for another exciting night of high-speed entertainment. Last week Chad Lyle in Modifieds, David Turner in Late Models, and Jack Dover in 360 Sprints won main events in their respective divisions. Who will be the next drivers to visit the Specialty Sportswear Winners Circle this Friday night? There’s only one way to find out, head to the fairgrounds this weekend and find out first hand!

Veteran racer Chad Lyle of Oak Grove finds himself leading the W-K Chevrolet Modified point standings heading into this weekend. Lyle picked up his first win of the year last weekend in fine fashion by outdueling Jim Moody and Jason Thompson. These three drivers find themselves atop the standings and are separated by just twenty points. Austin Siebert and long-time modified competitor at the speedway, Dennis Walrath, are within striking distance and currently sit in fourth and fifth respectively.

If you missed last week’s late model main event you missed one of the Kansas City Metro’s standout races so far this year at any track! David Turner and Shad Badder put on a clinic of driving skills in the hard-fought race with Turner taking the win as the pair came across the Miller Lite start/finish line for the win. Badder originally started the race clear back in tenth and gradually worked his way to the front to lead several laps. Turner currently holds down the lead in the point standings with Kansas City driver Larry Clawson second, former track champion Chris Smyser is third, Jon Binning in a ULMA late model is fourth, and another former track champion, Dave Myer, rounds out the top five.

Over in the Rick Ball Ford 360 Sprint Cars, Sedalia driver Jonathan Cornell rules the roost after two strong performances so far this season. Boonville’s Rusty Potter finds himself running strong in the second position one spot ahead of Grain Valley’s Brian Brown; Mike Trent and Terry Hink round out the top five heading into Friday night. Last week’s feature winner was Jack Dover, from Springfield, Nebraska, proving you just never know who is going to make their way to the ‘Historic Half Mile’ for competition in any class.

Gates open this Friday night at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 7:00, and racing starts at 7:30. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65+ and military w/I.D. as well as college students w/I.D. Kids six to twelve are $6, children 5 and under are free, pit passes are $25.
