Doyline, Louisiana (July 3, 2004) - The O'Reilly SUPR Late Models finally beat the rain and completed a full night of competition with local favorite Jeff Chanler from nearby Minden, Louisiana topping the competition. Chanler stormed from the consolation race to the feature victory.

Chanler started 17th but put the lessons he learned the last chance race to good use in the feature getting inside the top 10 by lap 10 and then he took advantage of a lap 14 restart and moved from ninth prior to the caution that came out when Kenneth Mitcham, who slowed with a bent front end while running third, to fifth on lap 15 as he got Litton on the restart and Merchant on the next lap. Two laps later Chanler had worked his way to third as he got by Jon Mitchell and Rusty Cummings on the same lap. Chanler then found the middle ground between a David Ashley, who was running the top side and leader Jay Blair who was running the bottom. Chanler was ahead on Ashley on lap 18 and around Blair as they raced onto the front stretch on lap 19 as he split the lead duo.

Chanler was clearly in a groove running where no other driver was able to and he continued to storm through lapped traffic, eventually lapping all but the top three cars in the feature. David Ashley overtook Blair for second but he was unable to keep pace with Chanler who had a half-track lead at the checkers. Ricky Ingalls drove from the 15th starting position to third in the Lazy 8.

39 O'Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand. Heat race winners were Robbie Starnes who scratched from the feature with chassis damage, Doug Ingalls, Chris Wall, Jason Ingalls and Trey Beene. Last chance winners were Ricky Ingalls and Rob Litton. David Lafleur took a nasty tumble in his heat race and ended up on his roof.

The weather played havoc on the race track as the Champion Park track crew had little chance to properly work the race track prior to the event and turn three in particular took a beating. The crew did rework the track during the fireworks show and produced a multi-groove track that considering the circumstances proved to be as racy as could be expected.
