MILLINGTON TN. Charlie Randolph of Muskogee, Oklahoma can add another feather to his cap. Randolph, the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year point leader can add an O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series feature win to his resume. Randolph drove by pole-sitter Joey Mack on the opening lap, then held off Bill Frye for 40 laps, in taking the win.

Mack was the night's top qualifier and held the pole, with Mississippi Racing Legend, Jerry Inmon to his outside. Randolph got a run in turn two, driving by Mack, taking the top spot. Bill Frye came from his second row outside to move into second with Mack, Inmon, and Mike Brown falling in behind. Brown powered under Inmon in turn four on lap three, taking fourth.

Jeff Floyd was on the move, and got past Mack and Inmon, moving to fourth, as Brown was third. Floyd worked past Brown for the third spot on the backstretch on lap seven. Dane Dacus moved into fifth on lap eight.

Out front, Randolph was already starting to see slower cars by lap 10. He and Frye were side by side on lap 11, then Randolph re-established the point in turn two on lap 12. Randolph cleared some of the traffic, and had a clear track by lap 15.

The caution flag waved on lap 17 as Joey Mack hit a large tire marking the infield in turn two. Mack did considerable damage to the left front of his car, and was through for the night. Several attempts to restart the race failed at this point, the most noticable on the second attempt as over half the field stacked up in turn two.

Terry Phillips and Jerry Buck had moved to fourth and fifth as the race finally was able to restart. Steve Rushin replaced his teammate Buck in the fifth spot on lap 18. Rushin got a run under Phillips, taking the fourth spot on the next circuit.

Randolph was back in slower traffic by lap 27. Randolph was five carlengths ahead of Frye by lap 30, but Frye was right back on his back bumper by lap 33.

Randolph was facing a slower car on lap 34, but the car moved over and Randolph and Frye were able to drive by. Randolph had a straightaway of clear track by lap 37, but Frye stayed close. Frye made one last attempt to pass Randolph in turn four on the white flag lap, but Randolph came to the checkers with the win.

Charlie Randolph, Bill Frye, Jeff Floyd, Steve Rushin, and Terry Phillips made up the top five. Dane Dacus, Dewaine Hottinger, Jessie Bailey, Jerry Buck, and Jeff Taylor rounded out the top ten.
