Chevy Cavalier Questions??

My buddy bought a 2001 chevy cavalier with the 2.4L in it. It was race ready when he bought it and had been raced the previous year. Couple Questions. It had about 2 quarts to much of transmission fluid in it. Is there a reason for this or did he probably just never check it? Cause it doesnt have a dip stick to check the tranny fluid. You have to check it by taking out the plug under the car on the side of the transmission case. So maybe he never checked it? Or is this done intentionally. Also any idea on what would be a good motor oil would be to run in that motor? Thanks and appreciate any help

The only explanation for the trans fluid I can think of is lack of knowledge or carelessness. And as far as the oil goes it is always best to run what the manufacture recommends but make sure it is a full synthetic.

No need to run synthetic... Most important thing is do NOT to run heavy weight racing oil. Stick with manufactures recommendations.
